Vegas Weekender: Winter heats up with headling acts, AVN awards and other hot events

This weekend sizzles with tons of parties, special appearances and the 30th anniversary of the AVN Awards. It  may be January, but the next few days will be smokin’ hot like July.


It’s AVN weekend, so you know it’s going to be naughty. For three decades, the AVN Awards show has been the adult industry’s biggest night and the award itself, the industry’s highest honor. Dubbed “the Oscars of Porn” by Entertainment Weekly, the AVN Awards features the hottest stars from adult entertainment. Awards will be given out in various categories, including Best Feature, Best New Starlet and Best Selling Adult DVD of the Year, to name a few. This year, experience a night of sexy, fun entertainment at the AVN awards at Hard Rock hotel.

The awards show includes a special act by “Zumanity,” as well as a performance by rap artist Tyga.  The event will be hosted by adult superstars Jesse Jane and Asa Akira and will feature the hottest stars in adult entertainment.

More than just an event, the AVN Awards has become a tradition and the ultimate Vegas party. Starting Wednesday, Jan. 16, Chateau at Paris Las Vegas hosts the Adult Entertainment Expo and AVN Awards parties. The Adult Entertainment Expo Kick-Off Party includes appearances by Jessica Drake, Stormy Daniels, Kaylani Lei, Alektra Blue and Samantha Saint; award-winning adult film stars Lisa Ann and Andy San Dimas and special guests Teagan Presley and Alexis Texas. The celebration will culminate with the Official Adam & Eve After Awards Party on Saturday, Jan. 19, hosted by adult film actresses Teagan Presley, Alexis Texas, Sophie Dee and Eva Angelina.

Hosted by adult film star Ron Jeremy, the official Paradise Visuals AVN Party will be held at Hard Rock Café. Listen to live music from local band Sin City Sinners with special guest Dizzy Reed of Guns N’ Roses. The 21-and-older event starts at 9 p.m.

Adult film stars Inari Vachs and Devon Michaels host the evening at Crazy Horse III on Friday, Jan. 18.

Multiple AVN Award winner and former adult entertainment star  Jenna Jameson hosts at Tabú, Saturday, Jan. 19. Adult film stars Gracie Glam, Kendall Karson and Nikki Phoenix will host on Friday, Jan. 18.

Located inside  Venetian, Rattlecan hosts an afternoon of culinary debauchery with its Burning Angel Brunch. Hosted by chef Sam “Sammy D.” DeMarco, along with “Burning Angel’s” Joanna Angel, Jessie Lee and Kleio, fans can hang out with their favorite stars, all while enjoying delicious menu options. These include passed dishes, made-to-order entrees and specialty shots and cocktails. Guests are encouraged to hang out and “kill the keg” with post-brunch drink specials. The event is on Sunday, Jan. 20 from noon – 3 p.m. The cost is $50 per person.

Snow bunnies, rejoice! On Sunday, Jan. 20, Hyde hosts the chilliest party of the season – the Winter Wonderland-themed XIV Vegas Sessions. The nightclub “freezes over” at 5 p.m. and remains open until the break of dawn. Don your sexiest white winter apparel and party in a wild winter wonderland. The party includes shimmering confetti falling like snow, icicles on chandeliers and frosty foliage. Cocktail servers will dress like ice princesses while serving chilled drinks and snow cones spiked with liquor. Dance under champagne showers and groove to the sounds of live DJ music.


Carlos Santana performs Saturday, Jan. 19 and Sunday, Jan. 20 at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay. Show starts at 7 p.m.

Popular for the smash singles “And the Beat Goes On” and “Rock Steady,” The Whispers (pictured right) perform all their hits at LVH – Las Vegas Hotel & Casino Jan. 19 at 9 p.m.

Located on the Las Vegas Strip, the Hard Rock Café presents Of Mice & Men, Woe Is Me, Texas in July, Volumes and Capture the Crown on Thursday, Jan. 17. Show starts at 5 p.m.

Gabriel Iglesias cracks audiences up with his stand-up routine Friday, Jan. 18 – Sunday, Jan. 20, 10 p.m. at The Mirage.

South Point presents Tuff-N-Uff on Friday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. Kicking off the night, Tuff-N-Uff hosts a pre-party for all guests with food specials, free beer, a whiskey sampling and music. The first fight of the evening begins at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $25.

Grammy-nominated rap/reggae artist Sean-Paul makes a special appearance at Tao at the Venetian on Friday, Jan. 18.
