“America’s Got Talent” winner/alum Terry Fator not only does the impressions of your favorite performers, he puts a spin to his act with his puppets stealing the show. Fator performs at the Mirage Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Popular for its famous early ’90s hit, “Black Hole Sun,” grunge rock group Soundgarden performs at the Hard Rock Hotel this Saturday, July 23 at 8 p.m. Opening for Soundgarden is special guest The Mars Volta.

Crooner Tony Bennett brings his hit songs to the Palms this Sunday, July 24. Show begins at 8 p.m.

Take a ride with the Old School Summer Jam this Saturday, July 23 inside The Orleans Showroom at The Orleans hotel. The lineup includes Ohio Players, SOS Band, Midnight Star, Evelyn Champagne King, Atlantic Starr, Tone Loc and Young MC. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Can’t get enough of the slow jams? R&B act Miguel performs later in the evening at Haze inside Aria.

Funny man Russell Brand makes his Las Vegas debut on Friday, July 22 with show times at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Brand started his career doing stand-up, launching his first United Kingdom tour, “Shame,” in 2006. Brand earned his fame in America with the 2008 movie, “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.”

The legendary Bill Cosby brings his insightful humor to Treasure Island this Friday, July 22. The show begins at 8 p.m.

Latino comedian and actor Gabriel Iglesias performs on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 at the Mirage.
Anthony Norelli brings his comedy to the Las Vegas Hilton through Sunday, July 24 at 10 p.m.

Watch World Boxing Association (WBA) World Champion Amir “King” Khan face five-time World Champion and current International Boxing Federation (IBF) Junior Welterweight World Titleholder Zab “Super” Judah go head-to-head at Mandalay Bay Events Center on Saturday, July 23. This fight will be televised live on HBO’s World Championship Boxing. Doors open at 3 p.m.

Available daily from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., guests can choose from breakfast classics like Holy Huevos Rancheros or Bigger Than Your Head Pancakes. Enjoy the restaurant’s signature Frrrozen Hot Chocolate by pairing it with the new Frrrozen Hot Chocolate French Toast. Or, try the Egg White Shrimp Frittata and Seasons Best Fruit Platter with Banana Cream Waffles and Fried Eggs Benedict. Other options include Saints & Sinners French Toast Log, which includes bacon, sunny-side-up eggs with breakfast potatoes and fresh berries and whipped cream.

Speaking of sweet, guests can enjoy the “Buzzed Mochi” tasting menu at Planet Hollywood’s Koi restaurant in celebration of National Ice Cream month. With four new cocktail-inspired dipping sauces, Koi transformed some of its favorite mochi flavors (along with a few new exotic ones) into a delicious, booze-infused dessert. You can either mix and match your mochi pairings or sample the chef’s selection. Whether you want something like a fresh fruit tart, a classic an ice cream sundae or a rich chocolate, two pairings are only $10.

Tacos & Tequila at Luxor offers a new $5 Happy Hour menu from Monday through Friday, from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Guests can get their drink on with $5 Jose Cuervo shots and Dos Equis Lager, in addition to $5 well drinks, house red and white wine and sangria. T&T’s also features $5 fiesta nachos, habanero wings, chicken quesadillas, flautas and guacamole.

Other deals include Oyster Happy Hour at Lakeside inside Wynn Las Vegas. Available daily from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., relax at the bar and lounge area while tasting different varieties of the bi-valves for $1.50 each. Choose from an expansive selection of wine, beer, sangria and oyster shooters to complement your oysters. Other options include baked oysters Rockefeller and Po’boy sliders.


If you’re looking for a way to cool off from the desert heat, visit Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef. Here you’ll get a chance to see three male zebra shark pups. These pups, who debuted to the Shark Reef last month, are now on display in the touch pool. The pups remain on exhibit in the touch pool until they’re ready to be transferred to another aquarium.


Located inside the Rio, McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon celebrates Christmas in July this Saturday, July 23. Partygoers can celebrate holiday cheer, cocktail specials and an open bar. The lively Irish pub invites patrons to throw on their best Christmas ensemble. Anyone daring to don a Christmas sweater, Santa costume or a racy Santa’s Helper outfit receives open bar for the evening. The holiday party kicks off with a “Happy 2 Hour” from 8 p.m. to 1- p.m. for $15. Christmas in July continues with open bar from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. ($20 for the ladies, $30 for the guys). Local ladies pay only $1 for cocktails from 10 p.m. until close. All guests can enjoy $5 cherry and grape bombs.

This Sunday, July 24 marks the National Day of the Cowboy. The PBR Rock Bar & Grill inside Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops holds a special mechanical bull riding competition. The top three riders win open bar tabs of $200, $100 and $50.

If you’re heading to Vegas to start your weekend early, PBR Rock Bar & Grill serves $3 drafts for National Legal Drinking Age Day. Revelers who turned 21 in 2011 can have a toast to their freedom with an ice-cold draft for only $3 all day.


Most folks take their Vegas jackpot winnings back home, but my dad decided to stay here instead. That’s how I left Seattle almost 20 years ago. I moved from greenery and rainy days to hot summers, palm trees and desert. As much as I love my hometown, I decided to stick around Vegas. This city just has so much to offer. You don’t even have to be a gambler, bar hopper or an all-night partier. I love Vegas for its awesome vegan-friendly spots, concerts, swanky hotel suites and spas so big, they’re like castles. The pool scene is not too shabby either, which is why I love taking stay-cations.
