Vegas Weekender: Indulge in parties, spa treatments and more

Vegas is thisclose to reaching its triple-digit temperatures, and this weekend’s events are only the beginning. From hot headlining acts and pool parties to spicy dishes and indulgent spa treatments, the forecast looks like a fiery trip with a high possibility of fun.

Sizzling shows

It’s hard to see all your favorite performers in one weekend. Impressionist Gordie Brown makes it easy by singing in the voices of all your favorites. Hear everyone from Michael Jackson, Prince and Tina Turner to George Michael, Elvis and Eminem. He also throws in comedy too. Show times are Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Golden Nugget.

Catch the Jabbawockeez at Monte Carlo before the group's final curtain call this Saturday, April 21.

Don’t miss the Jabbawockeez final performance on Saturday, April 21 at 9:30 p.m. at the Monte Carlo. The theatrical hip-hop group became a worldwide sensation after winning MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” in 2008.

Sitcom kings Kevin James and Ray Romano share their wit together at The Mirage, April 20 – 21 at 10 p.m.

For more laughs, check out “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” at the Plaza. This sexy production show is based on the true story of the legendary Texas brothel, the Chicken Ranch. The show performs nightly at 7 p.m.

Rock legends Crosby, Stills & Nash sing their golden hits at the Hard Rock Hotel Friday, April 20. The show begins at 8 p.m.

If you want to see rock, country and rap combined, Uncle Kracker performs live at the Orleans April 21 – 22. Show time for both nights is 8 p.m.

Adbacadabra – the Ultimate ABBA Tribute sings all of the group’s classic hits at LVH – Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, April 20 – 21, starting at 8 p.m.

Catch The Eagles’ “Long Road Out of Eden Tour” at MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 21 at 8 p.m.

David Copperfield performs his illusions at MGM Grand’s Hollywood Theatre April 19 – 23 at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., with a 4 p.m. matinee on Saturday.

Funk/soul/pop group Fitz and The Tantrums start the “Soundwaves” poolside summer concert series at the Hard Rock Hotel on Saturday, April 21.

"Jersey Shore's" Pauly D rocks out with Pitbull this Sunday at Hard Rock's Rehab pool party.

Also on Sunday, Tiësto kicks off “Daystar Sundays” at Encore Beach Club on April 22.

Spice things up

Enjoy happy hour specials at Luxor’s Rice & Company.

The restaurant off ers specialty sushi rolls and hand-crafted martinis from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Spice things up with the yellowtail jalapeño roll, spicy shrimp roll or spicy tuna roll. Drink specials include the sake martini, a sweet strawberry martini and apple martini.

Public House at the Venetian puts a spin on traditional pub fare. Options include a true arancini fondue, the Scotch egg (made with barley wine sausage and bacon mustard sauce and foie gras) or crispy frog legs made with tomatoes, brown butter, lemon, herbs and croutons.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with the pub’s tangerine wheat beer float made with white chocolate sorbet, apricot rosemary cookies or a strawberry rhubarb sundae made with vanilla crème fraiche, mixed berry ice cream and ginger ale foam.

Craving something your whole family can enjoy? Located inside the Excalibur, Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer offers its “Sunday Family Barbecue” from 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The menu features flavorful smoked barbecued meat selections such as beef, pork and sausage and savory side dishes including macaroni and cheese, Mom’s baked beans and cornbread.

Party like a rock star

Sammy Hagar ’s Cabo Wabo Cantina inside Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops features Live Rock Star Karaoke on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. Courageous rockers can go on stage and sing their hearts out to hits alongside the live band, 3 Digit IQ. All karaoke kings and queens (21 and older) receive a complimentary shot of Cabo Wabo Tequila. The party kicks off at 9 p.m.

XS nightclub at Encore presents world-class DJs this weekend. See John Dahlbäck and Warren Peace on Friday, April 20; Steve Angello and Tony Arzadon on Saturday, April 21 and DJ R3HAB and Warren Peace on Sunday, April 22.

Indulge in Spa Week

You still have time to catch the last half of Spring Spa Week. Through April 22, The Spa at The Mirage and Nurture Spa & Salon inside Luxor offer select 50-minute spa treatments for only $50.

At Nurture, relax with a 50-minute Swedish massage, a 50-minute pedicure or a 50-minute Dermalogica customized facial. At the Spa at The Mirage, enjoy a 50-minute hot whiskey body scrub. This service incorporates a bourbon exfoliation with warmed brown sugar and Kentucky whiskey.

In celebration of Earth Day, The Spa at The Mirage offers a special price on Yoga with the Dolphins. Practice yoga while watching the dolphins in the underwater viewing area at Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. Admission is $30 (regularly $50) this weekend.


Most folks take their Vegas jackpot winnings back home, but my dad decided to stay here instead. That’s how I left Seattle almost 20 years ago. I moved from greenery and rainy days to hot summers, palm trees and desert. As much as I love my hometown, I decided to stick around Vegas. This city just has so much to offer. You don’t even have to be a gambler, bar hopper or an all-night partier. I love Vegas for its awesome vegan-friendly spots, concerts, swanky hotel suites and spas so big, they’re like castles. The pool scene is not too shabby either, which is why I love taking stay-cations. Besides living it up -- Vegas style -- I’m hanging out with my handsome hubby, adorable baby girl, two cats and super-fluffy Shih-Tzu. I’m also a huge fan of '90s music, shows and movies.
