“Valentine’s Day is the one day of the year that ladies want to look their best,” said celebrity hairstylist Michael Boychuck (pictured at right).

Will you be mine (forever)?

We all remember those candy “text” hearts from childhood. When I used to get these in school on Valentine’s Day, it made my heart melt, especially the “Will you be mine?” ones. Just imagine how she’d feel if you promised this for a lifetime.

Valentine’s Day is typically one of the busiest days for Vegas weddings, right after New Year’s Eve and lucky number dates. According to the Clark County Marriage Bureau, it issued almost 1,700 marriage licenses on 11/11/11.  As romantic as it sounds to get married on a popular date, you’ll want to be prepared so the day goes as smoothly as possible.

“We recommend that every couple have a timeline [and] checklist, delegate last minute items to the best man and maid of honor or a close family friend, said Ada Casanova, director of  THEWedding Chapel at Mandalay Bay. “Make sure to have all of your documents and ‘must-haves’ packed away the night before and always smile to let everybody know that the day is going exactly as planned.”

“The number one tip would be for couples to get their license as soon as they get to Vegas to avoid long lines,” added Kathi Lewis, wedding chapel manager at Paris Las Vegas. “It will be busy on Valentine’s Day, so allow plenty of time to get to the chapel. Let family and guests know that your wedding will be starting on time.”

Most folks take their Vegas jackpot winnings back home, but my dad decided to stay here instead. That’s how I left Seattle almost 20 years ago. I moved from greenery and rainy days to hot summers, palm trees and desert. As much as I love my hometown, I decided to stick around Vegas. This city just has so much to offer. You don’t even have to be a gambler, bar hopper or an all-night partier. I love Vegas for its awesome vegan-friendly spots, concerts, swanky hotel suites and spas so big, they’re like castles. The pool scene is not too shabby either, which is why I love taking stay-cations. Besides living it up -- Vegas style -- I’m hanging out with my handsome hubby, adorable baby girl, two cats and super-fluffy Shih-Tzu. I’m also a huge fan of '90s music, shows and movies. You can find me on Google+ and Twitter.
