Who doesn’t love spa treatments? Some days we just need to take a moment from our busy schedule and give our bodies a treat. A day at a Vegas spas is something Mom will definitely remember.

“Mothers are always preoccupied with organizing their family lives and putting everyone first, so why not put themselves first for a day?” said Shannon Mariani, director at Spa & Salon Vdara. “A relaxing and tranquil environment can be just the right thing moms need to feel refreshed and rejuvenated while getting them back in the right state of mind.”

Canyon Ranch SpaClub, Venetian and The Palazzo

Celebrate spring with mom with seasonal treatments to match. These services include a breakfast or lunch at Canyon Ranch Grill, as well as access to the exclusive Aquavana experience.

Fresh lemon massage: Enjoy the intoxicating, springtime scent of lemon verbena with this luxurious massage. The organic oil draws on the healing power of nature, leaving the skin healthy, fresh and silky soft (50 minutes, $160 Tuesday through Thursday and $170 Friday through Monday).

Mint & Sage sugar scrub: The scent of wild sage and mint refreshes as dry skin is scrubbed away, leaving skin soft and supple. After an invigorating hydro tub soak,  your therapist revives the skin with an application of wild sage and mint body butter (50 minutes, $180 Tuesday through Thursday, and $190 Friday through Monday).

Moisturizing Spring Cocoon: The relaxing service begins with a detoxifying mask made of natural clay in a rich body cream. Next, you’ll float in the soothing warmth of a “cocoon” as the mask works to make your skin softer and smoother. End with a moisturizing full-body application of lemon-scented body butter (50 minutes, $180 Tuesday through Thursday, and $190 Friday through Monday).

Ice Cream Pedicure: We all love to eat it, so why not treat the feet to its own sundae? The special pedicure begins with a moisturizing foot bath containing a scoop of a pedicure ice cream product. Next, feet are cleansed and exfoliated with a scoop of sherbet scrub, followed by a delightful foot mask. The pedicure ends with a moisturizing body icing ($95 Monday through Friday, $100 Saturday and Sunday).

The Spa at Aria (Valid May 11 – 14)

Mother’s Day Total Body moisture wrap: This service awakens and infuses the skin with a refreshing boost of hydration. Melt away dry surface skin with a gentle exfoliation body polish and restore with a cooling wrap that nourishes, soothes and hydrates. This treatment includes complimentary paraffin on the hands and feet (50 minutes, $175).

Mother’s Day massage: This 80-minute hot stone massage includes a complimentary green tea cooling eye treatment and choice of scented oils (80 minutes, $265).

Gratiae’s Organic Treatment: Mom can treat her feet to a deep exfoliation with the ultimate hydration. Remove dry skin with an intense salt scrub infused with essential oils. A lifting mask wrapped in warm towels enhances the skin for a younger, radiant look. Enjoy a silky body butter massage for the ultimate relaxation. The treatment comes with a complimentary rose petal bath (50 minutes, $110).

Spa & Salon Vdara (Valid now through the month of May)

All Vdara services include a glass of complimentary champagne (those under 21 can enjoy a berry smoothie).

Handprint Revitalizing manicure: Mom can restore her hands to a more youthful appearance with SpaRitual’s new Youth Serum and hydrating hand salve. Swiss apple stem cells, aloe and shea butter all work to minimize the appearance of sun damage, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles while promoting healthy skin regeneration (50 minutes, $65).

Milk & Honey Deluxe Hydrating manicure + pedicure:  This treatment smooths and deeply hydrates hands and feet. Start with a Butter Brulée-scented milk soak and soft hand or foot scrub. Next a natural, fresh blend of yogurt and cooling clay is painted onto the hands and feet, while wild honey and oats instantly smooth, soften and refine skin. End with a delicate, warm moisturizer that leaves the skin smelling sweet.

Strawberries & Cream children’s manicure + pedicure: For moms bringing along a little one, kids can enjoy a day of pampering also. The service starts with a light sugar scrub. The pedicure continues with a rich Shea butter (combined with aloe vera and fruit extracts) to moisturize the skin. Sweet body milk is also applied during the massage (65 minutes, $85).

The Spa at The Mirage

Lighten Up Your Day: Perfect for tired legs and feet, the treatment begins with a 50-minute “Lighten Up’ foot therapy treatment, followed by a 50-minute “Bahama Mama” pedicure. The pedicure envelops the skin with an antioxidant-rich grape seed oil soak. Next, the skin is softened with a pineapple coconut sugar scrub and topped with a mango-melon shea butter massage. Delicious! (100 minutes, $205.)

Qua Baths & Spa, Caesars Palace

This Mother’s Day, Qua Baths & Spa offers a mother-daughter spa day with a fresh new facial or treatment for two. Before or after your service, you can also relax in the Roman Bath Spa (pictured right).

“Mother’s Day has always been a busy time for the spa industry [and] now, we’re seeing an increase in couples packages for moms and daughters to enjoy together,” said Shannon Stringert, spa direactor for Qua.

Aromatherapy facial: Mothers and daughters can relax and bond while tantalizing the senses and revitalizing the skin. Essential oils are incorporated into this customized facial experience using all-natural, hand-blended ingredients (50 minutes, $180 per person).

Mother’s Day package: Rejuvenate relationships and the body during this 100-minute package for mothers and daughters that includes both the organic Coffee Berry Yoga Facial and the Fountain of Youth Shirodhara massage for each guest.

The Coffee Berry Yoga Facial improves areas that show the most signs of aging including face, neck, décolletage and hands. This all-natural treatment also reduces tension and stress levels and brightens and evens overall skin tone.

With the traditional Fountain of Youth Shirodhara treatment, your therapist slowly pours warm, healing botanical oils onto the “third eye” chakra. The oils are then massaged into the hair and scalp, leaving you in a youthful state of relaxation.

This 100-minute treatment  is $370 per person.

Color Salon, Caesars Palace (Valid May 9 – 14)

Mom is sure to love a Mother’s Day salon makeover.  Priced at $185, the package includes a professional makeup application, an express manicure, as well as a wash and style. To top off the treatment, Mom can enjoy endless mimosas during the lavish salon experience.

Oleksandra Spa at Salon, TI (Valid now through the end of May)

Guests visiting this spa receive a complimentary eye and lip treatment with the purchase of any 80-minute facial, as well as a complimentary hair treatment with any haircut and style.

Border Grill, Mandalay Bay

Treat Mom to the exciting flavors of Mexico with a Mother’s Day brunch featuring unlimited small plates for only $34 a person. In addition to margaritas, Bloody Marias and mimosas, Border Grill features dishes like Peruvian shrimp and grits, Machaca chilaquiles with slow-cooked beef brisket, crispy potato rajas taco, frittata tarts with baby spinach and caramelized leeks and the signature Yucatan egg Benedict. Satisfy Mom’s sweet tooth with churro tots and guava cheese empanadas.

Sugar Factory American Brasserie, Paris Las Vegas

Treat Mom with sweetness with an unlimited “Momosa” drink special. Priced at $15, this concoction will go with dozens of the delicious brunch items.

Indulge in red velvet pancakes topped with cherry syrup, white chocolate shavings, candied orange and maple syrup ($12). Another favorite is the Chocolate Decadence French Toast (seen on right), featuring rich, dark chocolate-stuffed brioche piled with strawberries and drizzled with a choice of white, milk or dark chocolate syrup ($14).

For something more savory, Mom can try the Sugar Factory eggs Benedict, served with scalloped potatoes, Parmesan cheese, Canadian bacon, grilled asparagus and topped with a creamy herb Hollandaise sauce. ($13). The smoked salmon croissant is also a crowd-pleaser, made up of Alaskan-smoked salmon, chive cream cheese spread, arugula and a side of piping hot home fries ($18).

After brunch, take Mom on a shopping spree at its retail store attached to the restaurant. The store includes its signature Couture Pops, as well as chocolates, treats, candy-inspired apparel, novelty items, ice cream, cupcakes, gelatos, milkshakes and more. Yum!

Hash House A Go Go

With several locations throughout the city (including Imperial Palace, M Resort and The Plaza hotel), Hash House A Go Go offers food and drink specials ranging from $7.25 to $15.95. Bar specials like the lime melon margarita ($8.25) and strawberry bramble ($7.25) are also available.

  • Cherry dark chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream ($8.50)
  • Roast Chicken Betsy (Benny): Fresh split biscuit with spinach, mushrooms and house-roasted chicken all crowned with scrambled eggs and trimmed with basil cream. Served with griddled and mashed potatoes ($13.95)
  • Sally’s “Wild Child” Waffle: Brown sugar peach-glazed ham steak with crispy waffles and peachy pecan maple syrup ($13.95)
  • Mama Margie’s Beach Picnic: Marinated lemon-herb chicken with glazed carrots and griddled mash ($15.95)
  • Stella’s Shrimp Quesadilla: Flour tortilla filled with scrambled eggs, crispy shrimp, market tomato, smoked mozzarella cheese and griddled mash, all topped with basil pesto cream ($15.95)

Rice & Company, Luxor

Rice & Company’s executive chef Danny Chen created the spicy “Hot Mama Roll” (pictured right). Priced at $18, hot mamas can devour the sizzling roll made with salmon, asparagus, spicy shrimp, spicy tuna and puff rice served with a tasty, spicy mayo sauce. Treat Mom to a “Mama’s Son’s Kiss,” a specialty cocktail made with Ketel One Oranje Vodka, Yuzu liqueur, muddled strawberries and sweet lemon juice ($11).

Comme Ca, The Cosmopolitan

Enjoy a special Mother’s Day dinner at this French brasserie that offers remarkable views of the Las Vegas Strip.  Priced at $55 a person, the three-course dinner includes a glass of rosé wine. In addition, servers present Mom with a bouquet of flowers.

For the first course, diners have a choice of Dungeness crab salad tossed with preserved lemon and garlic; English pea agnolotti made with country ham and Parmesan froth; or creamy Maine lobster “black” bisque.

Next, select from three options for the main course: petit filet mignon au poivre, lobster thermidor or gnocchi au Parisien complemented with grilled peach and fromage blanc.

Last but not least, enjoy white chocolate beignets accompanied by the chef’s lemon rhubarb jam and strawberry sorbet.


Most folks take their Vegas jackpot winnings back home, but my dad decided to stay here instead. That’s how I left Seattle almost 20 years ago. The pool scene is not too shabby either, which is why I love taking stay-cations.
