With pool parties and the blazing summer temperatures still in full swing, October seems like a long way away in Vegas. However, it’s never too early to start thinking about Halloween, especially when you may need to start training, and we’re not talking about your liver. This year Halloween in Vegas is getting physical with various fun runs taking place in October. From the inaugural Vegas Seven GlowRun at the start of October to the Las Vegas Zombie Run and the Urban Obstacle Run & Festival at the end of the month, there’s plenty of fast-paced fun to be had for Halloween in Vegas. Whether you’re downtown or on the Las Vegas Strip, you’re sure to run into a good time.
Vegas Seven GlowRun
When: Oct. 7
Time: 6 p.m.
Where: The race starts at Las Vegas Boulevard and Carson and ends at Fremont Street in downtown Vegas
Registration Fee: $55 and up
Bust out your glow sticks and illuminated gear and get ready to get glowin’. As the inaugural Vegas Seven GlowRun, this event invites both world-class runners and weekend joggers to wear your best glow-in-the-dark outfits and embark on a 7k run that weaves through the Fremont East Entertainment District. Lining the route will be live music and spectators all culminating at the finish line with a block party in downtown Vegas.
Insomniac, the same production company behind Electric Daisy Carnival, is co-producing the event, meaning it’s sure to be an electrifying experience. After the run participants and spectators can stay to party at AfterGlow. The after-run party will feature international music sensation Girl Talk and a costume contest. Las Vegas Urban Obstacle Run & Festival
When: Oct. 27
Time: Every 15 minutes beginning at 3 p.m.
Where: The race starts at Fremont Street and the Strip and goes through downtown Vegas.
Registration Fee: $80 for runners, $25 for Mobster Zombie
This Halloween be part of the first obstacle run in downtown Vegas. The Las Vegas Urban Obstacle Run & Festival features an exhilarating run through a Halloween-themed course with obstacles like corn fields, abandoned cars, barricades, smoke, ropes and zombies. Speaking of the undead, if you don’t feel up to running, you can sign up to be a Mobster Zombie and part of the obstacles on this course.
Along with the run this event features live music, food, a costume contest and other festivities taking place as part of the post-race festival. After the race you can also be part of an attempt to break the world record for the most people dancing to “Thriller.” This part of the event will be held on Fremont Street at about 8:30 p.m. In order to succeed, the organizers need 14,000 people, and you could be one of them. Las Vegas Zombie Walk
When: Oct. 27
Time: 7:30 p.m. meeting time. The walk starts at 7:45 p.m.
Where: Starting point is at the obelisk in front of the Luxor
Distance: About 1.2 miles
Calling all zombies. You’re wanted for an outbreak on the Strip. Dress in your best zombie gear and head to the Luxor for a gathering of the undead. From there you’ll embark on a flesh-fueled frolic down the Strip. Along the way you’ll stop for a feeding at PBR Rock Bar located Strip-side at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. From there, the walk continues south to New York-New York for a celebration of the walking dead. Unleash your inner undead at this fun-filled event in Vegas. Las Vegas Zombie Run
When: Oct. 28
Time: The run starts at 7 p.m.
Where: Sunset Park walking path
Registration Fee: $40 and up
Flee from zombies and help benefit a local charity, Generation Vegas, at the Las Vegas Zombie Run. At this thrilling event participants will have to run through a zombie-filled obstacle course where winning means making it out alive. Each participant will get a flag football-style belt. If you make it out of the course with any of your flags left, you win. Lose all your flag and you finish the race undead. This event also includes a one-mile fun run/walk. If dragging your feet, lusting for blood and lurching out at people when they least suspect it is more your game, you can volunteer as a zombie.
