‘Mariah Carey #1 to Infinity’ makes for an elegant evening in Vegas
A delightful and elegant experience, the “Mariah Carey #1 to Infinity” concert was packed with rhinestones, high notes and the most loyal fans we have ever seen… yes, there were tears, and praises and seemingly locked knees as the eager “lambs” (that what MC fans are referred to as) adored the ever-classy diva from afar.
Performing all 18 of her timeless No. 1 hits together for the first time, the pop mega-star proved that she still has what it takes (and then some) to captivate the full-house Colosseum this weekend. Since debuting her Las Vegas residency on May 6, the singing sensation is several performances into her 18-show engagement and we promise that if you’re a loyal lamb, this is a spectacle you do not want to miss.
Glamorous in every aspect, the show progresses in a chronological format featuring hits including “Touch My Body,” “Hero” and “Fantasy,” in addition to fan favorite music cuts, never-before-performed selections and various other special surprises for this Vegas-made production.
Having recently reached nearly two dozen No. 1 hits – an accomplishment that has not been reached by any other solo artist in history – the unstoppable chanteuse referred to as the “songbird supreme” by the Guinness World Records sang a selection of these hits and concluded the graceful evening with her brand new breakup ballad, “Infinity.”
Backed by an incredible on-stage band and some equally incredible dancers, Carey takes time between her songs to chat with her fans and explain the stories behind some of her hits. With great sophistication and a gentle tone, this time spent connecting with the audience gave concert-goers an intimate insight into the lesser-known side of the inspiration behind the music.
Stories such as her most notable collaboration with R&B vocal group Boyz II Men in 1995, which resulted in the song “One Sweet Day,” offered an insider touch to the song that held its place as No. 1 on the charts for seemingly as long as Carey can hold a high note. Remaining untouched on the charts for 16 weeks, “One Sweet Day” became (and still remains) the longest-running No. 1 song in history, and Carey still sings it in all of its original glory… and it’s fantastic.
Accenting her performance with several costume changes and a visually stimulating set that mimics the music video scenes for some of the songs, the entertainer provided her fans with an unforgettable performance and even took time to mingle with some lucky admirers as she walked into the crowd twice during the show even inviting a few others to join her on stage. (Insider tip: If you’re a male and in the front row, keep your fingers crossed when she starts singing “Touch My Body” because she just may select you for a little on-stage rendezvous.)
Since beginning her singing career in the ’90s, Carey has become one of the best-selling female artists of all time with more than 200 million records sold across the globe, five Grammy Awards, 19 World Music Awards, 11 American Music Awards and 31 Billboard Music Awards to her name and her impressive record is still expanding.
For an intimate evening of pure talent from the pop diva herself, don’t miss your chance to be taken from number one to infinity in the most decadent of ways now through July 26 at The Colosseum.
