Calling all Kings: Vegas hosts its first Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist preliminary contest

If you think you can shake, rattle and roll like The King, this is your chance to strut your stuff. For the first time Vegas is hosting an Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist preliminary contest at Fremont Street Experience on July 23 – 24. Even if you don’t plan on competing, Elvis fans and those who enjoy a good spectacle will have the opportunity to see the best of the best Elvis tribute artists duke it out for a chance at being The King of Kings.

Contestants will be judged on the best representation of the Elvis legacy in talent, appearance, performance, stage presence and overall tribute.  Each of the judging criteria is scored on a scale of one to 10 with 10 being the highest score. Vocals count for 40 percent of the score and appearance, stage presence and overall performance each count for 20 percent. For more information on the contest and how to enter please click here.

The preliminary winner in Vegas will get a $2,500 cash prize, a Graceland getaway prize package and a chance to compete in The 2010 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest presented by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE) in Memphis during Elvis Week, August 10 – 16. Since the contest started in 2007 it has quickly become one of the most popular events of Elvis Week. Aside from the contest in Vegas, preliminaries are held around the world.

Famed tribute artist production “Legends In Concert” is producing the Vegas preliminary contest. The production company is also providing one of the grand prizes for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest winner including an opportunity to sign a performance contract with “Legends in Concert.” The grand prize winner will also get a cash prize of $20,000, recognition by the EPE, the title of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist of 2010 and other valuable prizes.

While there are plenty of places where you can see Elvis in Vegas this is one hip-shakin’, pelvic-thrusting event that fans won’t want to miss.
