Britney Spears’ fans have something to celebrate. A day after her 32nd birthday, the pop diva released her eighth studio album, “Britney Jean,” and arrived at Planet Hollywood in a 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible to prepare for her Las Vegas residency.
Ticket sales have been brisk for the “Britney: Piece of Me” residency, opening Dec. 27, according to Caesars Entertainment, owner and operator of Planet Hollywood. Shows are already sold out and the next set of sale dates will be released for sale earlier than expected.
Spears’ residency is billed as a celebration of her 15-year musical career, which includes more than a dozen hits that reached No. 1 on Billboard charts around the world. Her 1999 debut album, “…Baby One More Time,” peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and was certified diamond – 10 million album sales – by the Recording Industry Association of America. Her following six albums (excluding the just released “Britney Jean”) each reached either diamond or platinum status.
During the welcoming event outside Planet Hollywood Dec. 3, Spears rode up to the resort as her latest hit single, “Work B*tch” played to the fans waiting for her near the casino steps.
“I already feel like home here at Planet Hollywood,” Spears said in a statement. “It was so nice to celebrate my birthday and album launch with this incredible welcome event. I am so excited for everyone to hear my new album today, and to experience ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ in just a few weeks.”
Tickets start at $59.
