A little bit country in Las Vegas

Everybody’s family has that one thing that stirs up trouble. One person thinks one thing, another thinks something else and dinner time devolves into a high school debate practice gone wrong.

For my family, that thing is country music.

This might not sound like a divisive thing, but, oh, how it is. They’re a little bit country, I’m a little bit…well, not. I even lost the last other family holdout in my 14-year-old brother. It was a sad day when young, misguided DJ turned his nose up at my battered copy of ‘London Calling.’

But here I am, alone in a family of country music lovers, and what can I do? What can I do except to try to cope? (And spend a lot of time trying to work it out at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country – even if I can’t get into the music, the beer and the mechanical bull help.)

So, it’s with the coping (and healing) process in mind that I extend this olive branch to my family and to the country-music-loving audience at large (in Vegas, at least).

Here’s a round up of the country acts playing in and around the city in the coming months. It’s the best I could do. If you see my parents there (and they will be there, I’m sure), feel free to buy my dad a beer and tell my mom her hair looks nice.
