What you missed in Vegas, August 22-24, 2014

Were you in Las Vegas this past weekend? No? Well, why not?

On Friday, some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry came out to celebrate the grand opening weekend of SLS Las Vegas. The private grand opening extravaganza sponsored by Pepsi, Beats Music and BMW featured a star-studded red carpet and live performances from some of today’s hottest music artists.

Highlights from the night included Australian rap sensation Iggy Azalea and sultry songstress Rita Ora hitting the stage for a special poolside performance at Foxtail Pool Club. The mini-concert featured a medley of Azalea’s biggest hits to date including “Work,” “Problem,” and “Fancy.” Fellow artist and friend Rita Ora also graced the stage in a leg-bearing black and green dress to join Azalea for “Black Widow,” marking the second live performance of the duo’s chart-topping hit.

At The Sayers Club, DJ Sam Ronson took to the turntables to deliver a high-energy set as intimate performances were scattered throughout the evening by Jhene Aiko and Jojo.  Partygoers were also treated to an impromptu performance by Lenny Kravitz with a special introduction by Sam Nazarian (founder, chairman and CEO of sbe). Accompanied by a live band, Kravitz, who designed a handful of SLS Las Vegas’ suites, took center stage and had the entire venue singing along to many of his classics.

Just before midnight, VIP guests flocked to the porte cochère to witness a grand fireworks display and ribbon cutting ceremony led by sbe’s executives and partners. As the clock struck midnight, SLS Las Vegas’ doors opened as the newest resort and casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

Celebrity guests who also attended the soirée included Aaron Paul, Kellan Lutz, Emile Hirsch, Randall Slavin, Jeremiah Samuel, Rami Malek, Maria Menounos, Wynter Gordon, Dita Von Teese, Michelle Branch, Brittany Snow, DJ Vice, Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber, Pam Anderson, Shane West, Chuck Liddell, Adam Devine, Kelly Monaco, Jermaine Jones, Rick Fox, Holly Madison and husband Pasquale Rotella, Pia Toscano, Blanda Eggenschwiler, Dr. Julius Erving and Claire Sinclair, among others.

The celebration continued on Saturday, Aug. 23, as SLS Las Vegas redefined the nightlife experience with LiFE Nightclub’s official grand opening. A fully-integrated entertainment experience highlighted by provocative performance art and captivating LED installments, LiFE debuted with an exclusive DJ set by internationally-acclaimed DJ Erick Morillo.

Get to Vegas and check this place out. This is what happened when I walked through the doors.
