’s NFR hotspot roundup

Howdy. Glad ya’ll could make it down to ol’ Sin City for the National Finals Rodeo. Now that yer here, yer probably wonderin’ where to find the hoedowns, hootenannies and shindigs to rustle up some fun in Vegas. If yer hankerin’ for a drink or two, lookin’ to put on your dancin’ shoes or hopin’ to prove yerself on a mechanical bull, Vegas has the spots to get your Wranglers roarin’ during NFR.

PBR Rock Bar and the Rockhouse

Hardly a greenhorn when it comes to Professional Bull Riding, PBR Rock Bar knows its way around a bull – albeit a mechanical one. Throughout NFR, they’ll play host to “Cowgirls and Cocktails” mechanical bull ridin’ contests on Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 givin’ away $500 in prizes each night and offerin’ $1 Pinnacle vodka drinks for ladies. Fer the music lover, Country Karaoke gives you the chance to show off your pipes and drive the cattle home. And drink specials on Coors Light and Jack Daniels will put some rattlin’ in yer boots.

If yer the type who likes a little rock with yer country, Rockhouse, PBR Rock Bar’s sister establishment, knows how to crank the tunes while still keepin’ to the range. They’ll be hostin’ their “Cowgirls and Cocktails” on Dec. 8 and dishin’ out drinks specials throughout the weeks. And on Dec. 11 they’ll even host a retirement party for World Champion bull Chicken on a Chain. So be sure to pay yer respects and knock back a few cold ones in the champ’s honor.

Mizuya Lounge/Eyecandy Sound Lounge

Ya might not think that a bar known fer its fancy sushi would be a fine place to enjoy some country style, but then you don’t know Mizuya Lounge at Mandalay Bay. Cowboyville, as they’re callin’ it fer the festivities, brings the classic mechanical bull along with drink specials, nightly country music and trick roper Anthony Lucia to this salty space. And don’t worry none, you can still order up some California rolls for you and yer hombres.

Nearby, Eyecandy Sound Lounge will feature Dee Jay Silver. On Dec. 4, and from Dec. 6 – 11, ya’ll can get down to the Sound Lounge and see this Nashville star blow the roof off the barn.

Crown Royal Gold Buckle Zone at MGM Grand

MGM Grand cares so much about the cowpoke crowd that they’re pullin’ out all the stops to make their Crown Royal Gold Buckle Zone the best yet. Located just outside the KÁ Theatre, this space will feature live music every night of NFR. Acts include Lucas Hoge, Clay Walker, Sammy Steele Band and Trick Pony and more. And starting at 12:30 a.m., the vibe changes as Dee Jay Silver makes his way to the Zone and gets the party hollerin’ hard. Like everythin’ else on the list, live feeds of all the NFR action will make ya’ll feel like yer there. And they’ll even have a free NFR shuttle from West Wing Tower, if ya need to get close enough to smell the sweat.

Fer everythin’ country, with a twinge of island flair, Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall and Bar-B-Q at Treasure Island lassos you in with the rockin’ country music then rides the party back to the stables with saddle-style bar stools and, a’course, a mechanical bull. With bikini bull ridin’ every Sunday and some of the best BBQ this side of Texas, Gilley’s is a part of Vegas history that we’ve always been proud to brand.

The Las Vegas Bull

On the newer side, when you find yerself shoppin’ or eatin’ at Town Square, swing by the Las Vegas Bull. It used to be called Stoney’s, but by any name it’s the place to be for good drinks, a whole lotta line dancin’ and the ubiquitous mechanical bull. And don’t be afraid if yer not a pro, they offer line dancin’ lessons on the weekends.

Other broncos to ride

Vegas may be flashy, but we respect our down home roots. Throughout the town ya’ll can find a spot to watch all the NFR action and toss back some whiskey. If yer downtown, Cowgirl Up Cantina and Whiskey Licker at Binion’s will get you in the mood for a night on the range with Whiskey Licker’s clever, dirty cocktail names. And the Las Vegas Country Saloon has everythin’ you need to keep you pullin’ leather – yes, including a mechanical bull.

If yer on the west side of town, Revolver at Santa Fe Station is where you’ll find the line dancin’ and drinks to make any cowpoke’s night. Back on the Strip, Lagassee’s Stadium will turn pure country through NFR with nightly drink specials and performances by the likes of McKenzies Mill and Lexi Larson. And Charlie’s Las Vegas proves the country life is just fine, even for cowboys who love other cowboys.

We’re mighty grateful ya’ll came out to our little slice of desert for National Finals Rodeo, and we’re mighty proud of all we’ve got to offer. Get yer drinks, do some dancin’ and ya’ll come back real soon.

I came from a little town in the Midwest. And believe me, I’m never going back. It’s probably nice if you love grass and snow; but I love the lights, the glamour, and the flocks of tourists seeking fun and fortune. Once the sun goes down, I’ll be the first one out hitting the clubs or just wandering the Strip for a little nighttime adventure. Passing through Bond on my way to Lily Bar, or taking a shortcut through Double Helix before landing at Parasol Up/Down, I’m the one you’ll randomly bump into – only sometimes literally – strolling through Sin City’s liquored veins – and loving every minute of it.
