We’ve all done some crawling whilst drunk. Hopefully you were crawling to bed or to the kitchen for food. And hopefully you’re not literally crawling down Fremont Street. That’s… unadvisable. But what is highly advisable is popping into these favorite spots along Fremont Street Experience as part of our Vegas.com Downtown Pub Crawl.
We’ve set up this list to give you a nice mix of the classic Vegas you can find downtown and the emerging hipster heaven it’s becoming. As you move down the list, you’ll undoubtedly be temped by more bars than you know what to do with. Yes, you can get a drink at every single one you spot. Yes, you will end up crawling on the concrete if you do that. So as always, pace yourself and know your limits. That said, don’t hesitate to take advantage of the Expert Mode additions we’ve added. This is your time to experience Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas in all its boozy glory.
Beer Garden at Plaza
Starting at the far end, we find the Plaza Hotel and Casino, one of the classic Vegas spots we were talking about. It’s the home of Vegas mainstays like Oscar’s Steakhouse and Pop Up Pizza, as well as the brilliant Beer Garden. This is a spot that’s kept up with the times and always gives people what they want. They have great bar food and a huge selection of beers to get you started. And yeah, we know the saying, “Beer before liquor… yada yada yada.” But hey, this is Vegas. Live dangerously. Start your pub crawl in the lovely outdoor space and take a nice deep breath of the Vegas air.
Expert Mode addition: Bar Prohibition at Golden Gate
On your way down Fremont Street Experience, you can pop in to this clever bar that celebrates the end of that terrible time when alcohol was outlawed and only outlaws had alcohol.
Ice Bar at Golden Nugget
Another classic spot in Downtown Las Vegas is Golden Nugget. Along with the traditional casino vibe, they’ve embraced the family culture with an amazing pool and actual shark tank. Nearby those attractions you’ll find Ice Bar, a beautiful little drinking spot nestled near the main entrance. They have fantastic cocktails and a great view of the space. With this stop, we’re bringing you inside the Fremont Street casinos to show you their quality and to prove you can get liquored up at a variety of spots in this town.
Expert Mode addition: H2O Bar at Golden Nugget
While you’re inside the casino, you can take a closer look at the pool area and grab a drink at this bar that overlooks the shark tank and more.
The Filament at the Fremont
Just inside the corner doors of the Fremont Hotel and Casino lies Filament, a sophisticated spot that proves Downtown Las Vegas is never going away. This is a quicker stop than the last, darting into the casino just off the Experience, but feel free to spend as much time as you like. With $3 Heinekens, you may be tempted to just stay. And we really can’t blame you. Filament is the kind of bar that, if it were just down the street from your house, you’d be a regular at, hearing people shout “Greg!” whenever you walk in. In this fictional scenario you’re a 35-year-old RNA named Greg.
Expert Mode addition: Three bars at the D
Along the other side of the Fremont Street Experience you’ll find the modern and hip D. It’s got three bars you can sample: Vue Bar that overlooks the Experience, D Bar which is as hip as the hotel and Long Bar which is the longest bar in the city — if that appeals to you.
Banger Brewing in Neonopolis
Now we’re getting into the new side of Vegas, the side where mustaches and suspenders rule. Banger Brewing, on the ground floor on the Fremont side of Neonopolis, is a great brewery and bar that serves some of the best beer in town. They have classic styles as well as intriguing flavors like jalapeño. This is one spot we highly recommend even if you’re not on a pub crawl. And if you’re taking the crawl early in the morning, first off we salute your Vegas spirit, and second they have a coffee beer that’s a great pick-me-up.
Expert Mode addition: Brass the Lounge, Mickie Finnz and Hennessy’s
Across from Banger Brewing you’ll find pretty much all the alcohol you could ever want in these three bars. Take your pick between fish house, Irish pub or swanky lounge. The Las Vegas Country Saloon is there too, for more hardcore fans.
And now we come to the culmination of not just this pub crawl, but hopefully the evolution of Downtown Las Vegas. If we could somehow make this whole city into one giant Gold Spike we would. They’ve got multiple bars, all sorts of games and an amazing — and huge — patio area for outdoor fun. This is the kind of place that puts a bed in the middle of its living room and a tiny house in its back yard. If you’ve ever dreamed of opening a bar, Gold Spike is the place that proved you don’t need to because the bar of your dreams already exists. We may be hyping this up a lot, but you’re at least four drinks deep at this point, so we’re not too worried about disappointment. Spend the rest of your night at Gold Spike and we promise you’ll be entertained.
Expert Mode addition: Art Bar at Downtown Grand
If you still haven’t gotten your fill, across from Gold Spike you’ll stumble into Art Bar. This is a much more relaxing space with art on the ceiling, in case the only thing you’re capable of doing at this point is staring upward and moaning, “Why did I have beer before liquor, uuuuugh.”
But hey, these are just our picks. We’ve got way more bars on our Vegas bars page. So you can go create your own pub crawl, or just wait for us to post our next exciting Las Vegas booze adventure.
