Night swimming deserves a loud Las Vegas

Las Vegas in the summer means two things: swimming and holy freaking god it’s hot out here. Those are usually linked. But in Vegas we’re experts at finding ways around stuff, like adverse climates or public indecency laws. Fortunately, physics took care of this one for us. We totally would have gotten around to it, but we were up drinking last night. When the sun finally sets, the pools really start to get cool, and the party turns into something special. Here are the best places in Vegas to experience the glorious nightswim for yourself.

Drai’s Yacht Club
When: Tuesdays
Rooftop pools are always super fun. During the day they bring you slightly closer to the sunlight and give you less chance of having some shade, but that’s OK. If you’re at the pool during the day you’re probably not too worried about it. But at night they give you a view you just can’t beat. On top of the Cromwell on the Las Vegas Strip, Drai’s Night Club holds its Yacht Club event on Tuesday nights, bringing together the inherent beauty of Drai’s with exceptional views of the Strip. If you just can’t let go of the party and want it go keep going for like four days, Drai’s Yacht Club is even hosting an actual cruise around the Pacific. Plus it’s a Halloween theme, because why not? Just put on a green bikini and go as sexy Hulk. Drai’s Yacht Club is the height of elegance and one of the hottest spots in town.

EBC is just a really beautiful space. We kind of want to live in one of the cabanas. EBC, if you see this, hit us up. We'll pay rent. Photo courtesy of Encore Beach Club.

Encore Beach Club
When: Thursdays
Wynn and Encore are some of the most luxurious spots on the Strip. They know how to cater to the whales and the wayfarers who just want to party all night. During the day, Encore Beach Club is one of those spots where those two demographics can meet and mingle and everyone can have a good time. It’s without a doubt one of the most beautiful pool clubs in Las Vegas, and the cabana options are unbeatable. At night, it’s honestly about the same, just darker and somehow even more incredible. The screens from Surrender light the space and reflect off the water the serenity that comes from being surrounded by warmth and fellow party goers. And the pool toys are just super fun. EBC has vivid views of the night sky, solemn and blank and expansive. The light pollution of Las Vegas will probably obscure any stars, but at EBC you’ll already feel stellar.

Who needs the sun when you have lights like this? Yeah yeah, we know, without the sun all life would freeze, but it's so pretty here it might be worth it. Photo courtesy of Daylight Beach Club.

Sundown at Daylight
When: Sundays
Light Nightclub at Mandalay Bay knows how to illuminate the club scene. Mandalay Bay in general knows how to build a pool that keeps people coming back again and again like the tide. So it really shouldn’t be surprising that Daylight, the pool club version of Light Nightclub, is a glorious combination of the party atmosphere of Light and the pool prowess of Mandalay Bay. But hang on, we’ve got one more variation. Sundown at Daylight may sound like an oxymoron or a hipster band that has like wind chime solos in their songs, but it’s actually just the night party version of Daylight. Bringing in top DJs and musicians for special performances throughout the summer, Sundown is the place to sit back and enjoy a show, get up and dance with strangers or hop in the pool and toss a beach ball around. With the same level of additions as Light, you might even find a girl posing inside of a giant beach ball. But you probably shouldn’t go volley ball slam her across the pool. That’s not nice.

Get in the pool, get out of the pool, stand in the shallow end, lay in the shallow end and pretend to be a walrus, it's all you at Wet at Night. Photo courtesy of Wet Republic.

Wet at Night
When: Wednesdays
If you’re talking about Las Vegas clubs and pool clubs, like we are and like we do often, you have to mention Hakkasan. Their management company, Hakkasan Group is tearing it up in Vegas right now with other hit clubs like Omnia. They also run Wet Republic, one of the most impressive and popular day clubs around. Home to talent like Tiesto and Calvin Harris, Wet Republic is just another example of Hakkasan Group’s ability to build lasting party experiences. The night version, Wet at Night, is no exception. With massive screens shining down on the space and a pool that flows right up to the standing/dancing area in front of the stage, Wet at Night is one of the best ways to embrace the hot Vegas nights without having to put on heels or worry about getting your hair wet. Hang out, cool off and never hesitate to make wet jokes. The place is dripping with them.

XS
When: Sundays and select Mondays
XS is that beautiful club we love to talk about. It’s perfectly designed. It brings in outstanding talent. And it never disappoints whether you’re there for a huge event or just randomly wandered in after a late show. If you’ve never been there then you should go immediately, or, you know, when it’s open next. Don’t just show up whenever you happen to be reading this and bang on the door. They won’t like that. But do go sometime. And if you have been there but haven’t stepped outside, you’re only seeing half the club. During their nightswim nights, the doors come open and you get to see the exquisite  pool area behind the main club. The rounded pool is perfect for taking a dip, and the lights don’t hesitate to set the mood. The sound system and visuals are all new this year and absolutely amazing. The feeling of the music combined with the envelopment of the water makes this an experience you’ll never forget. Whether you’re new to XS or have had plenty but still not enough, check it out on a nightswim night. You will be wowed.

I came from a little town in the Midwest. And believe me, I’m never going back. It’s probably nice if you love grass and snow; but I love the lights, the glamour, and the flocks of tourists seeking fun and fortune. Once the sun goes down, I’ll be the first one out hitting the clubs or just wandering the Strip for a little nighttime adventure. Passing through Bond on my way to Lily Bar, or taking a shortcut through Double Helix before landing at Parasol Up/Down, I’m the one you’ll randomly bump into – only sometimes literally – strolling through Sin City’s liquored veins – and loving every minute of it.
