Body English reopens – sort of

Body English - Frame-#1When Body English shuttered its doors at the Hard Rock Hotel after ringing in 2010, local and out-of-town nightlifers alike felt as if they had one of Vegas’ most popular clubs ripped out from underneath them. Sure, Vanity opened as Body English was closing, but Body English had a long-established relationship with club goers.

Consider the void filled – well, at least for one night.

World-renowned DJ deadmau5 will pull down the shutters on Oct. 15 for a special “Unhooked” show. The Canadian artist is known for his progressive and electro-house music and will also serve as the house artist for the MTV 2010 Video Music Awards on Sept. 12.

“Deadmau5 was just announced as one of the biggest artists of the year so it was natural that Hard Rock would pull out all the stops to host him at Body English for a one-time performance,” said Billy Conn, executive director of nightlife relations at HRH.

Body English is known for its elegant décor of mirrored walls and crystal chandeliers, but it may be without its main chandelier. After the party, a software engineer won the right to take home the prized chandelier valued at $250,000. A pretty good deal considering he dropped $25,000 in bottle service that night and turned around a profit after selling the chandelier for $175,000.

Additionally, there have been rumors floating around that Body English would reopen as an afterhours spot that would complement Vanity. The move could make sense especially considering Wasted Space is due to close sometime this year. But the official comment on the speculation is:

“We have no details on this at the moment…” said a spokesperson for HRH.

So unless the rumors do come true, Oct. 15 is your only opportunity to check out Body English if you haven’t had the chance. And if you are among the many that made Body English your favorite place, it’s one more opportunity to play under the chandeliers.
