The north part of the Las Vegas Strip surprises a lot these days, especially when it comes to hotel news. We have Lucky Dragon opening in 2016. Then there’s Alon and Resorts World Las Vegas in 2018. And while SLS Las Vegas just opened in the Sahara hotel’s old space in 2014 – plot twist! – this swanky hotel is adding a luxurious brand to one of its towers. We present to you the W Las Vegas.
SLS Las Vegas announced today that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. will open its first W Hotel on the Strip inside SLS. It will take over the hotel’s 289-room Lux tower and should be open toward the end of next year.
Being a W guest has its perks for sure. In addition to taking over the Lux tower, W Las Vegas will have a W Living Room (the hotel brand’s version of the traditional hotel lobby), an exclusive entry and a reception area for W guests. There will also be an Away Spa and WET, an outdoor pool and bar (taking over the hotel’s Lux pool).
Starwood will manage the W Las Vegas brand and SLS will continue to oversee its other two hotel towers (World tower and Story tower), the casino, restaurants and nightlife.
This is exciting news, even for those of us who live here. The award-winning W hotels are famous worldwide for their opulent properties, with U.S. locations in Hollywood, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Chicago, Seattle, New York and Miami, among others. There are also several W hotels overseas. We say it’s about time came to Sin City.
