Tomorrow, June 18, I will be attending a special wine dinner with the Sinatra family. The dinner will take place at Sinatra, the restaurant in Encore Las Vegas. The event will be held to celebrate the “Come Fly With Me” Cabernet Sauvigon from the Sinatra Family Estates.
While three of my favorite words, “wine,” “friends” and “dinner” will all collide tomorrow evening, I am particularly excited to dine with one of my favorite singer’s family. In addition to my friendly fellow food writers and wine enthusiasts, I will be breaking bread with Frank Sinatra’s three children, Tina, Nancy and Frank Jr. and granddaughter Amanda Erlinger. Steve Wynn, who is good friends with the Sinatra family, will also be in attendance.
In terms of food, I can’t wait to see what Executive Chef Theo Schoenegger will create in a four-course meal with matching wine pairings. Included in these pairings is the 2007 “Come Fly With Me” Cabernet, paired with a tender filet of beef with porcini mushrooms. I will also get to preview “La Voce,” the Sangiovese, scheduled for release in September 2010.
We will start with a cocktail and passed appetizer reception in the outdoor courtyard and move into the dining room for a seated dinner.
The Sinatra wine dinner will take place at 7 p.m. in Sinatra and costs $175 per person. For more information, contact Encore Las Vegas at (702) 770-2249.
