Home to exotic cats like white tigers, lions and leopards, the Secret Garden is a lush, tropical environment with some of the rarest cats on the planet. The facility, which opened in 1990, is the dream of legendary magicians Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, better known to millions as Siegfried & Roy. For decades, the duo has worked to help save endangered animals, primarily white tigers and lions.

“Without Siegfried & Roy’s conservation efforts, we would not be able to offer guests of The Mirage this unique and informative experience,” said Franz Kallao, vice president of hotel operations for The Mirage. “We are excited to welcome these four lovable tiger cubs to their new home at the Secret Garden.”

What causes the color variations?
The white color is a result of a rare recessive gene. They are not considered albinos. It is similar to a person with blond hair and hazel eyes. The cubs have the recessive trait that gives them this coloring which is the result of less pigmentation not the absence of pigmentation. Having this trait is a disadvantage in the wild as it makes them less able to camouflage. This is why the trait is so rare in the wild.

Will you be doing photos with the cubs?
Our commitment is to conservation and education. There are no plans to have photographs with the cubs; however, you may visit our Cashman Photo booth and have your photo magically placed with one of our tigers or lions.

Will they be kept together as they grow?

Born a Buckeye - raised a Hoosier. I grew up in a one-horse town that straddles the Indiana/Ohio state line and until 2006, was in two different time zones. There were three stoplights and a whopping 48 students in my graduating class. Fast forward a few years later, I was bitten by the travel bug and decided to head west. It seems like no matter how long I live here, there’s always something that still makes my jaw drop. That’s what I love about Vegas; you never know what you’re going to see next and that’s what makes living here so much fun. Basically, if you’re bored in this town, there’s something wrong with you…not the city. I’m an avid traveler with an incurable case of wanderlust so stay tuned for all the tours, attractions and shopping adventures that Sin City has to offer.
