Here’s your summer pool concert list in Las Vegas

Love the water, but can’t stand the heat? You don’t have to endure scorching summer temperatures or even a crazy nightclub pool party if that’s not your thing. You can enjoy a full-length concert at night at the pool. We also love how it’s 80 degrees at night during the summer months. So keep that jacket in your closet and check out what you can look forward to this summer:

The Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

We absolutely love it here. When the Boulevard Pool isn’t hosting concerts in the summer, it transforms into a big ice skating rink during the holidays – faux snow and all. But since that’s months away, we’ll hang out here in our sundresses or board shorts instead. Not only does it have a great outdoor concert venue, it also showcases movies on select nights.

The Boulevard is easily one of our favorite concert venues. We’ve seen Aloe Blacc, Ryan Leslie, Phoenix, Weezer, Snow Patrol and most recently, Miike Snow here. We love its rooftop setting and close-up views of the Eiffel Tower across the street.

While there aren’t many shows announced yet, trust us — there will be a slew of concerts at The Boulevard Pool this summer and fall. They’re just announced closer to the actual date — sometimes just weeks before. We’ll definitely keep you posted.

Dive-In Movies

If you don’t see a movie you love, appreciate or grew up with on this list, well, we don’t know what to tell you. We’re diehard fans of the first “Rocky” movie, “Clueless,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and of course, a classic Vegas favorite, “Casino.”

Every Monday evening from Memorial Day to Labor Day, the marquee at Boulevard Pool transforms into a gigantic movie screen, showing your favorite films high above the Las Vegas Strip. Snack on traditional movie theater snacks, sip on a cocktail, or enjoy dishes from D.O.C.G. Enoteca. Here’s what’s coming to a marquee near you:

• May 30: Jaws
• June 6: Casino
• June 13: Father of the Bride
• June 20: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
• June 27: The Bourne Identity
•  July 4: Independence Day
•  July 11: Zoolander
•  July 18: Rocky
  July 25: Skyfall
•  August 1: Clueless
•  August 8: Inglourious Basterds
•  August 15: The Devil Wears Prada
•  August 22: The Big Lebowski
•  August 29: The Goonies
•  Sept. 5: Dirty Dancing

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Dive-in movies are free for hotel guests and for children ages five and younger. It’s only $5 for non-hotel guests. The pool is also available for swimming and lounging during the movie. This definitely puts a unique spin on your typical movie theater experience.

Citrus at Downtown Grand

Head to downtown and catch a live concert, rooftop style. Located at Downtown Grand, Citrus at the Grand Pool Deck features a live show by popular Vegas act Zowie Bowie every Friday at 10 p.m. In addition to this live concert, Citrus will also host live DJ music every Thursday and Friday from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Hang out before and after the show — besides enjoying the pool, you can lounge on any of the open seats or play foosball, corn hole, table tennis and more.

Hard Rock Friday Night Live pool series

We love the location of Hard Rock. It’s close to the Strip, but you don’t have to worry about all the traffic. Plus, we love sitting on the edge of one of the pools and dipping our feet in during a concert. That’s exactly what we did when we saw De La Soul perform live. Hard Rock offers an eclectic mix, from hip-hop acts (Dilated Peoples, Atmosphere and Bone Thugs & Harmony) and neo-soul (Mayer Hawthorne) to rock (The Growlers and Eagles of Death Metal). Whomever you decide to see, you’re going to have a rockin’ good time. And if you live here, consider your Fridays booked for the summer.

•  May 27: Ozomatli and Dilated Peoples
•  June 3: Atmosphere with Brother Ali, Prof and Get Cryphy
•  July 8: Mayer Hawthorne
•  July 22: Eagles of Death Metal
July 31: Puddle of Mudd
• August 12: Bone Thugs & Harmony
• Sept. 2: Mac DeMarco with Ducktails and Dinner
Sept. 9: Pepper
• Sept. 16: The Growlers

We focused on concerts, but Vegas also showcases world-famous DJs at many of our pool clubs — both day and night. For other poolside entertainment, visit our Vegas pool club page.

Most folks take their Vegas jackpot winnings back home, but my dad decided to stay here instead. That’s how I left Seattle almost 20 years ago. I moved from greenery and rainy days to hot summers, palm trees and desert. As much as I love my hometown, I decided to stick around Vegas. This city just has so much to offer. You don’t even have to be a gambler, bar hopper or an all-night partier. I love Vegas for its awesome vegan-friendly spots, concerts, swanky hotel suites and spas so big, they’re like castles. The pool scene is not too shabby either, which is why I love taking stay-cations. Besides living it up -- Vegas style -- I’m hanging out with my handsome hubby, adorable baby girl, two cats and super-fluffy Shih-Tzu. I’m also a huge fan of '90s music, shows and movies. You can find me on Google+ and Twitter.
