Fun-tastic weddings

excaliburA wild wedding in Vegas just got even wilder.

While Sin City is popular for its drive-thru wedding services and Elvis-themed ceremonies, there are more spontaneous ways to tie the knot in Vegas.

Into adventure? The Rollercoaster at New York-New York  now offers weddings. If you’re already thinking about taking  “the plunge,” why not go all out and take a plunge with your honey at 67 miles per hour?

Couples have the chance to reserve one of the most exhilarating wedding experiences on the Strip. The “Weddings on The Coaster” package allows couples the chance to say “I Do.” To take adventure and romance to the next level, The Roller Coaster even has a 180-degree “heartline” twist. This special package allows couples to take 14 guests. Package rates begin at $600 with weddings available Sunday through Thursday at 10:45 a.m. or 11:15 p.m. as well as Friday and Saturday at 10:15 a.m. or 12:15 a.m. This wedding experience includes a minister.

The Excalibur hotel takes “dress up” to a whole new level. In celebration to its medieval theme, the bride and groom can choose from an assortment of costumes including king and queen, prince and princess or knight and lady. Reminiscent of the 16th century, the costumes  come complete with tiaras, crowns and swords. Medieval-themed weddings are common at the Canterbury wedding chapel. The chapel offers six wedding packages starting from $199. All costumes are available to rent for an additional fee.

Feeling like something a bit more summery and want the scenery of the wild? If you want to experience the feel of the islands but love the entertainment this city has to offer, then you’re in luck: Mandalay Bay’s THEwedding Chapel features breathtaking views of the troipcally-landscaped Mandalay Beach. You’ll forget that you’re even in the desert.

There’s also helicopter weddings and themed weddings suited for all tastes.

So what’s next? A few I’d personally like to see would be thrill-seeking weddings on Stratosphere’s Big Shot or X Scream, and perhaps a wedding at the Wildlife Habitat or the Secret Garden at Mirage. Nothing is cuter than exotic animals as “witnesses!” Hmm. In Vegas, anything is possible.

Stayed tuned for more exciting and creative weddings on or near the Strip.

Most folks take their Vegas jackpot winnings back home, but my dad decided to stay here instead. That’s how I left Seattle almost 20 years ago. I moved from greenery and rainy days to hot summers, palm trees and desert. As much as I love my hometown, I decided to stick around Vegas. This city just has so much to offer. You don’t even have to be a gambler, bar hopper or an all-night partier. I love Vegas for its awesome vegan-friendly spots, concerts, swanky hotel suites and spas so big, they’re like castles. The pool scene is not too shabby either, which is why I love taking stay-cations. Besides living it up -- Vegas style -- I’m hanging out with my handsome hubby, adorable baby girl, two cats and super-fluffy Shih-Tzu. I’m also a huge fan of '90s music, shows and movies. You can find me on Google+ and Twitter.
