Easter fun for everyone

easter_thumbnailFor years, the chocolate caramel cream egg was the one treat I looked forward to every Easter season.

Until now.

I had the pleasure of sampling Ethel’s Egg Collections yesterday and I have to say, the milk chocolate strawberry truffle egg blows my childhood favorite out the water. This truffle is so delicious, it inspires me to want to learn to make it myself.

For the perfect Easter gift, you can buy the popular seasonal staple, the Fruit Egg Truffle Box (seen on right), which offers a variety of fun, springtime flavors.

The ganache-filled chocolates include strawberry, key lime, lemon and raspberry. Each gourmet chocolate egg is airbrushed by hand, giving each flavor a distinctive look and color. Every egg is freshly-made inside the Ethel M Choclate Factory. And while it’s not edible, the lime-green egg-shaped box is just as adorable as these colorful, speckled bites.

If fruit doesn’t tickle your fancy, there is also a peanut butter milk chocolate version.

Through April 4, these homemade, gourmet chocolate eggs can be purchased at Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Fashion Show mall. Each gift box is $22. My (chocolate) Easter egg hunt is officially over.

And if you make it to the chocolate factory between the dates March 27-28 and April 2-4 from 1 – 5 p.m., there will be an Easter Bunny available for photos underneath the gazebo at the Botantical Cactus Garden. A face painter will be on site if you bring your kids (or just want to bring out the kid in you). All Easter activities are free.

Most folks take their Vegas jackpot winnings back home, but my dad decided to stay here instead. That’s how I left Seattle almost 20 years ago. I moved from greenery and rainy days to hot summers, palm trees and desert. As much as I love my hometown, I decided to stick around Vegas. This city just has so much to offer. You don’t even have to be a gambler, bar hopper or an all-night partier. I love Vegas for its awesome vegan-friendly spots, concerts, swanky hotel suites and spas so big, they’re like castles. The pool scene is not too shabby either, which is why I love taking stay-cations. Besides living it up -- Vegas style -- I’m hanging out with my handsome hubby, adorable baby girl, two cats and super-fluffy Shih-Tzu. I’m also a huge fan of '90s music, shows and movies. You can find me on Google+ and Twitter.
