Must dos this weekend in Vegas: Feb. 25 – 28, 2015

Here in Vegas we like to celebrate things. Whether it’s a bachelor party, a birthday bash, or some random but completely necessary holiday like National Margarita Day, which we dutifully observed (ahem…. slurped up) yesterday, you can bet we will toast to just about anything, anytime, anywhere… just because we can.

And while simply waking up in Vegas is reason enough for a celebration (bonus points if your first hour of consciousness is spent piecing together last night’s shenanigans through a Photo Stream timeline of #nofilter-#vegas-#club-#shots-#winning-Instagram-worthy perfection that digresses into the 4 a.m., hot mess aftermath of sweaty clubs that will indefinitely reside in the blackmail bin), we decided that partying because this weekend is the last one in February sounds a little more fun than raising a glass to National Tooth Fairy Day, which, if you’re into that, is on Saturday.

So, once you gather yourself from yesterday’s bottomless margarita binge (aka get your buzz back hair of the dog-style) and kick out the random five passed out by the pizza box in the corner (damn you beer goggles), get ready to celebrate the eighth week of 2015 with some obviously fun things that we know you will not want to miss this weekend.

Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot!

Rascal Flatts

When: Feb 25 – 28, 2015.
Where: The Joint in The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

OK, so boots and dukes may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about Vegas, but that doesn’t mean that our sparkling city doesn’t know how to get down country-style (yes… that goes beyond the fact that we have lots of whiskey). Opening their limited time engagement at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel is the mega-star country music trio, Rascal Flatts. Kicking off their nine-show run on Feb. 25, the “Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot!” concert is guaranteed by the band members themselves to be different than any concert they have ever performed.

'Chains' act in Cirque du Soleil's 'Zumanity'

“Zumanity” Outdoor Performance

When: Feb 24 – 28, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.
Where: Zumanity Theatre inside of the New York – New York Hotel and Casino

At 4:30 p.m., the seductive characters of Cirque du Soleil’s “Zumanity” will be taking over New York – New York’s Statue of Liberty as they perform a spectacular dance number in addition to the show’s famous “Chains” act. On display for the public, you will not want to miss this incredible display of awe-inspiring talent. And if this little taste of the sexy show’s incredible acrobatics piques your interest, be sure to catch the full production, which was recently revitalized with new choreography and talent, Tuesday through Saturday this week.

Hakkasan Las Vegas Nightclub

Hakkasan Las Vegas Nightclub

When: Friday-Saturday Feb 27 – 28, 2015.
Where: Inside the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino

For those who prefer red soles to red solo cups, Hakkasan nightclub in the MGM Grand is hosting your type of party this weekend. With Dada Life scheduled to perform on Friday and Tiësto on Saturday, you can bet this multistory mega-club will be anything but quiet. And since the club will be extra busy considering the two mainstream DJs booked, you will want to get your ticket in advance or better yet, book a VIP table for you and your posse to drink, dance and party the night away.

LAVO Party Brunch

LAVO Party Brunch

When: Saturday Feb 28, 2015 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Where: Inside of the Palazzo

We all know that everybody brunches these days (yes, we all love greasy bacon and strong, everything-in-the-kitchen-is-decorating-my-bloody-Mary-type drinks at 10 a.m.) and that is why Lavo Party Brunch at the Palazzo has made it onto our Must Do list. However, our interest was not pinned down with good eats and booze alone. Far more than your first meal of the day, you may go for brunch but you will stay for the party. Beginning at 2 p.m. this Saturday with a Mad Hatter theme, it is up for you to decide whether you’ll be tumbling down the brunching rabbit hole as the Queen of Hearts or The Hatter himself.

Interested in entertainment fit for the whole family?  Look no further than Le Rêve – The Dream at Wynn Las Vegas. Recently updated with new state-of-the-art special effects and captivating choreography, this enchanting production is performed in, on and around a 1.1 million-gallon aqua theater. With the transformative water-to-platform (and emerging tree) stage located in the center of the arena-style theater, every seat is guaranteed optimal views of the stunning acrobatics, aerial feats, and underwater routines for an entertainment experience unlike any other in Las Vegas.

Trading one desert for another, I moved to Las Vegas from Arizona nearly three years ago. It was something about the sparkling lights and the all-encompassing entertainment factor that persuaded me to swap cacti for casinos and dry heat for well…even drier heat. And while I do love a good show, I will always keep true to my country girl ways seeing that I am an absolute sucker for a good country concert and will always indulge the opportunity to go out country dancing! But in a city that undoubtedly has some of the world’s best cuisine, a wild assortment of endless experiences, and of course phenomenal shows, Vegas certainly has that unparalleled good time vibe that can make a city slicker out of just about anyone… including myself!
