Halloween costume contests in Vegas

What are you going as? Seriously, we need ideas. Our sexy pizza rat idea got taken and now we’re running with nothing. We’ve got so many Halloween costume parties this weekend that we need to come up with something soon. While we’re thinking, let’s run down some of the top spots we want to hit, along with the prizes they’re offering.

Word of warning: Certain costumes/accessories are prohibited at some or all of these parties. Masks or paint that fully covers the face may not be allowed in casinos or clubs, any sort of real or fake weapons are a bad idea, and any costume that’s racially or culturally offensive may be denied. So keep your masks, rubber knives and headdresses as home. Good, now that that’s out of the way, everyone can have fun.

Tao at the Venetian
When: Oct. 31 at 10 p.m.
Prizes: $30,000 total
Tao is a beautiful club that embraces the aesthetics and warmth of its sister restaurant. On Halloween that all turns into a devilishly delicious excuse to bring out the dark side. The scenery will be enhanced by the throngs of partiers who come dressed to the 666’s, ready to party. If you don’t want to dress us, then stick to traditional club attire. But you’ll be missing out on your shot at massive prizes.

Neon Boneyard at Neon Museum
When: Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
Prizes: Costume contest as well as raffles and other giveaways
It’s actually called the Boneyard all year round, but the name is a little more apropos this week. In the midst of the relics of old Las Vegas, where the spirits of casinos past still linger, you can party your lights out and enjoy some complimentary drinks. They’ll also have souvenir photos, food and music. If clubs aren’t your thing, or you just want a more unique party, this is the one for you. They’ll also have a family-friendly event on Halloween day.

Ghostbar and GBDC at the Palms
When: Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Prizes: $10,000 in cash and prizes at each party — that’s $20,000 total, yo
These are some of the parties we always look forward to. Day and Night of the Killer Costumes are traditions in the Vegas party scene. With one contest happening in the day and another at night, you have even more chances to win by audience applause. Just be sure to arrive on time, sign up and, oh yeah, have a killer costume. You won’t get anything if you can’t keep up with the amazing atmosphere that Ghostbar and Ghostbar Dayclub alway put on.

1 OAK at Mirage
When: Oct. 30 at 10:30 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 10:30 p.m.
Prizes: $10,000 each night
They call it a haunted funhouse, and that has us intrigued. Nicki Minaj will be there on Friday, but the party is going all weekend long. Take the funhouse theme to your own heights with the sexiest costume contest, or just show up and enjoy yourself as you try not to get too freaked out. If you need to run, 1 OAK has pretty easy access to the Las Vegas Strip. Cuz it’s never scary out there. *wink*

LiFE and Foxtail at SLS Las Vegas
When: Oct. 31 at 10:30 p.m.
Prizes: $50,000 in cash and prizes
Lil Wayne will bring you Halloweezy, the latest party to hit the lovely LiFE Nightclub at SLS. The contest will be for sexiest costume, so be sure to bring your public and weather appropriate outfits. We’ll leave it to you to decide exactly what that means. And if you’re still kicking after the contest, hit up Foxtail for the after party feature Gareth Emery and more presented by After. SLS will be pulling out all the goblins this Halloween so don’t hesitate to make it a memorable night.

Gold Spike in Downtown Las Vegas
When: Oct. 31 at 9 p.m.
Prizes: $4,000 in cash and prizes
If you want something a little less restrictive than the clubs, Gold Spike is always an amazing party in a more laid back atmosphere. This Halloween, they’ll be turning vamp-tastic with their Vampire Affair. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, best couple and more, so get your gear together and head down. The venue has great drinks, games and an outdoor space for those of you who have costumes that cover more than the legal minimum.

Marquee at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
When: Oct. 31 at 11 a.m.
Prizes: $10,000 total
Despite what the air feels like, and the weather report says, it is technically fall in Vegas. So Marquee is bringing out their dome to top their pool area for a daytime pool party on Halloween. If you’ve never been there, it’s a magical place where the cool air can’t bite but the drinks are always just right. Carnage will rock the deck and the costume contest will be hot. If you don’t want to wear a full costume, pool attire is encouraged as this is a pool party. And if you want to combine those two concepts, we fully support that idea.

LAX at Luxor
When: Oct. 31 @ 10:30 p.m.
Prizes: $2,500 each for best Angel and Demon costume
They call it the Angels and Demons party, but it’s all Earth hotties. Unlike most parties, LAX goes more specific and encourages everyone to come dressed as your favorite angel or demon. We’re not judging, but if you have an awesome Castiel outfit we’d vote for you. If not, you can always just throw on some horns and have a good time with Erica Jackson and Jade Bryce and all the other angels/demons in Vegas.

Costume idea: Seriously, Castiel from “Supernatural.” We’d sell our soul for some of that.

AVN Porn Star Party at Artisan
When: Oct. 30 and 31 at 10 p.m.
Prizes: $2,000 cash to the winner with the naughtiest costume
Now it’s time to get naughty. We hope we don’t have to spell out that this party is absolutely only for adults. This is the party where the sexiest cam stars mix and mingle with fans in costumes that hopefully allow for some breathing. If you want to be surrounded by beauty and not hung up on those pesky little things like nudity or prudishness, this is the party for you. The stars will be all out for this one and we have a have a pretty good idea where we’ll be ending up.

Costume idea: We’ll leave this one up to you. We don’t want you to steal our idea.

Note: Artisan will also be having a party/contest/zombie escape experience on Oct. 28 at 11 p.m.

Not necessarily costume contests but still awesome
If you aren’t one of those people who has a dedicated suitcase for your Iron Man outfit, you might want to just party in Vegas without worrying about showing up those lowly Spider-Men. Here are some spots with killer parties where your costume, or lack-there-of, probably won’t be judged quite as harshly.

  • Omnia at Caesars Palace – Calvin Harris with Generik
  • Hakkasan at MGM Grand – Hardwell with Kill the Buzz
  • Moon Nightclub at the Palms – Heaven and Hell on the Moon Halloween Bash with Mike Fusion and DJ Kash
  • Hyde Bellagio – Special performance by Omarion
  • Surrender at Encore – Lil Jon
  • Drai’s at The Cromwell – Thriller with Chris Brown
  • The Sayers Club – Zombie Prom featuring the Fabulous Sin City Roller Girls

I came from a little town in the Midwest. And believe me, I’m never going back. It’s probably nice if you love grass and snow; but I love the lights, the glamour, and the flocks of tourists seeking fun and fortune. Once the sun goes down, I’ll be the first one out hitting the clubs or just wandering the Strip for a little nighttime adventure. Passing through Bond on my way to Lily Bar, or taking a shortcut through Double Helix before landing at Parasol Up/Down, I’m the one you’ll randomly bump into – only sometimes literally – strolling through Sin City’s liquored veins – and loving every minute of it.
