This weekend in Las Vegas the decades collide with performances by ’80s group Duran Duran, and ’90s group New Kids on the Block. If that doesn’t sound tempting enough, cool off with a cocktail poolside or at an only-in-Vegas bar. Or, heat things up with a sexy performance by Crazy Horse Paris with special guest Carmen Electra.
No matter what you’re in the mood to do, Vegas has what you’re looking for.
The UFC will be the must-see event of the weekend
See Ultimate Fighting Championship superstar Brock Lesnar fight Frank Mir for the UFC heavyweight championship July 11 at Mandalay Bay Events Center. Next, Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre goes up against Brazilian native Thiago Alves for the Welterweight Championship. Want to know who the ultimate fighter is? Stick around for the Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping match. Tickets start at $100.
Calling all boys — It’s time to get a little ‘Crazy’
If you think Crazy Horse Paris is sexy now, try seeing it with Carmen Electra. The star of “Date Movie,” “Scary Movie 4” and “Epic Movie” can be seen live as she takes the stage July 8 – 13 at Crazy Horse Paris at MGM Grand. Electra will join a cast of Parisian dancers who perform topless with creative lighting and projected images.
No shortage of basketball this weekend in Vegas
What better way to enjoy your love of sports than to attend the opening of NBA Summer League? The games are July 10 – 19 and will take place at the COX Pavilion and the Thomas & Mack Center. Tickets are $25 per day for adults, $15 for seniors and children. Cheer your favorite team including the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings.
Vegas concerts have got “The Right Stuff”
If you’re “Hungry Like the Wolf” for Duran Duran, your fast will end at 8 p.m. July 10 when the band takes the stage at the Pearl inside the Palms. Tickets start at $79.
Continue your concert-going adventures with the New Kids on the Block as they sing old favorites like “The Right Stuff” with a modern twist and new songs like “Summertime” at 8 p.m. at the Pearl. Add in special guests Jabbawockeez from “America’s Best Dance Crew” and you’ve got a night of summertime fun. Tickets start at $110.
Playing poolside at the Silverton at 8 p.m. July 11 is Blues Traveler. A word to the wise, stay hydrated because it’s hot in Las Vegas, even at night.
Rondell Sheridan will be at the Improv at Harrah’s at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. July 7 – 12. Tickets start at $31.95.
Incubus will be at the Joint at 8 p.m. July 11 for their “Monuments and Melodies” tour. Tickets start at $55.
Great music, hot people: the perfect vegas party
For partying into the wee hours of the morning, head to Rain nightclub inside the Palms to catch John O’Callaghan, D:Fuse and more. The party starts at 10 p.m. on Saturday, so be there for a “perfect” Vegas experience.
It’s always a big weekend at LAX with great music, a great crowd and great celebrity guests. July 10, join Rapper Jadakiss as he hosts the evening. Jadakiss’ albums include “The Last Kiss” and “Kiss of Death” and of course, who could forget his power packed album “Kiss the Game Goodbye,” his first album on Rock-a-Fella Records (2001). On Friday night, try kissing Jadakiss “hello.”
Continuing the party on July 11 is the UFC 100 after fight party. Celebrate your favorite fighter’s victory or dance away your favorite fighter’s loss. Doors open at 10:30 p.m.
With a large nightclub complete with plenty of lounge and dance space below and a patio with views of the Las Vegas Strip above, PURE nightclub at Caesars Palace will be quite the party. Making the night of July 10 even better: R&B Singer Mya.
M spells summer in Vegas: Resort, mojitos, misters
Snooze your day away at Daydream pool club at M Resort. Enjoy the cabanas and cool down with a blackberry mojito, a smooth blend of rum, fresh blackberries, mint, lime and soda.
If you like mojitos, you’ re in luck. Head over to Society Café Encore’s bar and enjoy a variety of exotic twists on mojitos. Enjoy a strawberry or pineapple mojito using freshly muddled mint, rock candy syrup and fresh fruits and fruit juices — for nutritional value, of course.
Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace has refreshing misters on their outdoor patio and refreshing cocktails like a heavenly frozen piña colada swirled with strawberry syrup.
