Throughout the month of February, the fountain outside the V Theater in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood will have you seeing red.

No, it isn’t your imagination. No, it isn’t an homage to Valentine’s Day. No, there weren’t any drunken tourists harmed in the process of making the water red.

The fountain will emit a red tone between its regular schedule of water shows in solidarity with the American Heart Association during National Heart Month. Likewise, throughout the month, all money tossed into both the fountain and the Miracle Mile Shops’ indoor rainstorm feature will be donated to the American Heart Association.

So dig into those pockets for some spare change. Any amount will do. You don’t need to be “in the red” in order to help a good cause.

Yes, I’m from Las Vegas. But I’d like to clarify a few things: I don’t live in a hotel and I’m not a showgirl. I put my pasties on one nipple at a time, just like everyone else. I’m a regular girl who plunges off the side of ridiculously tall Las Vegas landmarks and writes about it for a living. I also ride roller coasters, hang at the spa, shoot holes in zombies and take art lessons from bottlenose dolphins. You know, normal stuff. My career as a journalist and copywriter has led me out of Vegas and around the world, but the 24/7 normality of Las Vegas sucks me back in every time. Am I oblivious to the plethora of slot machines everywhere I go? Sure. But that’s because I’m distracted by all the pretty lights. Follow me on Google+ and Twitter.
