A store that sells blocks for kids (and the kid-at-heart) is the newest kid on the block at the Fashion Show Mall.

The Lego Store opened last week on the mall’s lower level, across from the Apple Store.

A colorful, one-stop shop for all things Lego features tons of Lego sets, including Star Wars and Simpson Legos, plus Lego Duplos and much more. A shelf of shadow boxes with pre-constructed Lego scenes (including a miniature Lego model of the Lego Store itself) line the walls on both sides of the store.

On the store floor, there are a few Lego and Duplo building stations as well as a Build a Mini station, adding an interactive and playful element to your store visit.

Kids enjoyed a variety of events during opening weekend, including a chance to assist an actual Lego Master Builder in constructing an 8-foot R2D2 model.

Note to “Lego Movie” fans: Master Builders do use “Kragle.” But don’t worry. No Legos are harmed in the process.

Yes, I’m from Las Vegas. But I’d like to clarify a few things: I don’t live in a hotel and I’m not a showgirl. I put my pasties on one nipple at a time, just like everyone else. I’m a regular girl who plunges off the side of ridiculously tall Las Vegas landmarks and writes about it for a living. I also ride roller coasters, hang at the spa, shoot holes in zombies and take art lessons from bottlenose dolphins. You know, normal stuff. My career as a journalist and copywriter has led me out of Vegas and around the world, but the 24/7 normality of Las Vegas sucks me back in every time. Am I oblivious to the plethora of slot machines everywhere I go? Sure. But that’s because I’m distracted by all the pretty lights. Follow me on Google+ and Twitter.
