Las Vegas offers much more than pool parties and nightclubs to cap off the summer. The following is a look at just some of the events happening Labor Day weekend.
Earth, Wind & Fire at Venetian
Grammy award winners Earth, Wind & Fire are performing a special omni-platform HSN Live concert at The Venetian at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug, 30.
EWF will be joined by special guests throughout the concert to perform tracks from their latest album, “Now, Then & Forever.” The band, one of the most successful in American music history, is also expected to play some of their greatest hits.
The special guests have not yet been announced.
Air Supply at Orleans
Soft rock duo Air Supply is performing at 8 p.m. Aug. 30 – Sept. 1 at the Orleans.
The duo, who won an American Music Award in 1982, is expected to perform many of their popular hits, including “All Out of Love,” “Lost in Love” and “Making Love Out of Nothing at All.”
Comedian Ron White at Mirage
The cigar-smoking, scotch-drinking funnyman, Ron White, brings his blue collar comedy to the Mirage at 10 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
White continues to tour and perform to sold-out audiences across the country with his storytelling and candid observations on life. He has had a couple of the top-rated one-hour specials in Comedy Central history.
Celine Dion at Caesars
Caesars Palace resident singer Celine Dion is performing her hits and a collection of songs by other artists at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Colosseum.
Dion performs with an orchestra and band. Her show is complemented by a stunning light and video display.
Ziggy Marley at Mandalay Bay Beach
Grammy award winning artist Ziggy Marley performs at the Mandalay Bay Beach at 9 p.m. Sept. 1.
Marley comes to Las Vegas as part of his Wild and Free tour.
The Beach Boys at South Point
The Beach Boys will be performing a free concert at the South Point Arena at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2. The Beach Boys are performing at the Fun after 55 Good Vibrations Expo.
Free concert in downtown Vegas
Post-grunge rock band Puddle of Mudd is scheduled to perform a free concert at the Fremont Street Experience on the 3rd Street Stage at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31.
Puddle of Mudd is expected to perform their popular songs “She Hates Me,” “Blurry,” “Drift & Die” and more.
Cook and dine with Wolfgang Puck
Join acclaimed chef Wolfgang Puck for an intimate and interactive cooking demonstration and lunch at The Palazzo. Guests will have the opportunity to cook in the kitchen with Wolfgang and his team as they prepare their meal.
The lunch includes a wine pairing, a signed cookbook and recipe cards. Price is $150 and is all-inclusive.
Prix fixe menu at Artisan, Rumor
Restaurants Addiction at Rumor and Mood at the Artisan are offering a special prix fixe menu through Aug. 30 to benefit Three Square food bank. A portion of the proceeds for each meal sold will be donated to the food bank. Visit helpoutdineoutlv.org for more information.
Heroes exhibition at Insert Coins
Insert Coins is hosting the second annual Hometown Heroes BMX Exhibition and street party from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Fremont East Entertainment District.
The all-ages event is a great opportunity to watch action sports. The event is hosted by BMX pro and MTV reality star Ricardo Laguna. Following the exhibition, guests 21 and older are invited into the barcade, where music will be curated by the upcoming Life is Beautiful festival and some of Las Vegas’ hottest DJs.
Bar proceeds from the entire night will be donated to the Downtown Boys $ Girls Club.
‘Stayin’ Alive’ benefit shows
The Australian Bee Gees Show – A Tribute to the Bee Gees is hosting a series of special performances at Excalibur to encourage visitors to stay safe over the holiday weekend.
During the Labor Day weekend, a portion of proceeds from all ticket sales will benefit the American Red Cross.
“The Australian Bee Gees Show” takes the stage 7 p.m. Saturday through Thursday in the Thunder From Down Under Showroom at Excalibur.
Tribute honors burlesque queen
A special tribute show to honor the life of the late Dixie Evans is set for at 9:30 p.m, Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Plaza in downtown Las Vegas. Evans, who was regarded as the “Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque,” will be honored with ”United We Shimmy!,” featuring an all-star lineup. Proceeds from the show will be used to pay for Evans’ medical and memorial expenses. Tickets range from $20 - $100.
Unlimited golf special
Golf Summerlin is offering a Labor Day weekend special at all three courses. For $45 per round or $85 per person, golfers can play at Highland Falls, Palm Valley or Eagle Crest golf courses between Aug. 30 and Sept. 2.
