Sure Las Vegas is synonymous with the dry desert, but you’ll quickly discover – thanks to the city’s pool clubs – that it also runneth over with water. So forget sleeping in…you’ll want to spend your afternoons getting oiled up with girls in itsy-bitsy bikinis and guys in tight swim trunks while partying at these adults-only aquatic playgrounds.

Almost all of Sin City’s dayclubs have kicked off their 2014 seasons. Here’s a rundown of the ones that are making a big splash in May.

DayDream Pool Club at the M Resort

DayDream Pool Club at the M Resort is the perfect playground for adults.

Slip into your sexiest swimwear and head over to DayDream Pool Club at the M Resort on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. This 12,000-square-foot oasis boasts a new 22-person hot tub called the “DayDream Party Jacuzzi,” which is available for group rental. How’s that for a truly unique Vegas experience to share with friends? DayDream celebrated its official season opening at the beginning of the month. The fantasy-like fun will roll on in coming weeks with a bikini contest on May 17. DayDream Night Swim is also being launched on select Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. The first one will be an ’80s-themed bash held on May 13 with music by DJ Carlos Sanchez.

Now in its 11th year at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Rehab has expanded the schedule for its the raucous afternoon event – which regularly attracts up to 4,000 revelers – so that it takes place on Saturdays and Sundays. A variety of entertainment including top music acts, DJs and celebrities has been lined up including DJs Shift, Wellman and Loczi on May 18,  J. Cole on May 24, Puff Daddy on May 25 and Aloe Blacc on May 31. And speaking of bikini contests, the second annual Rehab Bikini Invitational got into gear last Saturday. There will be three more rounds of preliminary elimination events on June 14, July 12 and Aug. 9, leading up to the finale on Sept. 6.

Green Valley Ranch takes a dip in pool club season every Saturday through Monday starting at 11 a.m. at The Pond. DJs Eric Forbes, Greg Lopez and Robert Gangi spin the music in this exclusive section of the resort’s 8-acre water wonderland known as The Backyard. In addition, music from local bands is now being featured on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. in The Backyard as part of Green Valley Ranch’s new Poolside Sessions series. Hear WILLplay on May 8 and 22 and Josh Royce on May 15 and 29 while putting your feet in the cool water.

Kaskade's Summer Lovin' residency

Kaskade takes pool partiers at Marquee Dayclub back in time to the '70s, when music was groovy.

Are you ready for some summer lovin’? Pool partiers and EDM fans will want to chill out in Marquee Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan, which is the exclusive venue for Kaskade’s Summer Lovin’ residency. For his second straight year at the resort, Kaskade is transporting afternoon carousers back in time to a 1970s-era party that ties disco to his own funky beats. (Tip: You may want to wear legwarmers or a neon sweatband with your swimsuit.) His first appearance took place in early May, but there are more to come on May 24, June 21 – 22 and Aug. 30. In addition to Kaskade, you’ll find an impressive lineup of top-name electronic dance music artists cranking it up for fans throughout the summer months including Lema, Firebeatz, Cash Cash, Cedric Gervais, EC Twins, Sander Van Doorn and more. Marquee Dayclub is open daily beginning at 11 a.m.

Attention men in search of a sultry afternoon: Sapphire Pool & Day Club returned for its second season at the beginning of May. It’s part of Sapphire Las Vegas, the world’s largest gentlemen’s club, located at 3025 S. Industrial Road. Although there’s a rectangular-shaped pool surrounded by daybeds, lounge chairs and 11 luxury cabanas, you won’t see any of this due to the bevy of beautiful woman in skimpy swimsuits who will be sunning themselves and frolicking in the water. On weekends The Sapphire Entertainers also come outside to play. Accompanied by a lineup of guest DJs, resident DJ Quira pumps out the music. Fireball Fridays, a weekly event celebrating whisky (Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, to be specific), just debuted. You can look forward to hearing DJ Dokkaebi on May 18 and meeting Meisha Tate, the stunning UFC women’s bantamweight star, on May 23. Sapphire Pool & Day Club is open every Friday – Sunday from noon – 6 p.m.

On May 18, Temptation Sunday will return to the Luxor’s North Pool. The weekly event, which is entering its seventh season, will run through Sept. 28. It’s held on Sundays from 1 – 7 p.m. Host J.Son of Naked Boy News will again rule over the mischievous fun. Expect to see lots of bronzed bods as well as enjoy games and drink specials. Resident DJ Matt Lucio will be on hand to pump out high-energy hits. Temptation Sunday also has an array special events planned throughout the season including It’s Electric (in honor of the Electric Daisy Carnival) on June 22 and 50 Shades of Tan (to mark summer’s halfway point) on July 20.

If there’s a pool club in Las Vegas that’s going to be a game changer this season, it’s Drai’s Beach Club, which will open over Memorial Day weekend. Drai’s Beach Club is situated 11 stories high on the rooftop of The Cromwell. The views of the Strip from up here – featuring bird’s-eye perspectives of Caesars Palace, Paris Las Vegas’ half-scale replica of the Eiffel Tower and the Fountains of Bellagio – will be great. Plus, sun lovers will appreciate being able to soak up unobstructed rays for most of the day.

Drai’s Beach Club will have two main pools, each with central wet decks and perimeter seating on lounge chairs and daybeds. There will also be an assortment of bungalows and cabanas, some of which will have their own private pools, showers and restrooms. Along with two full bars and 10 towering 35-foot palm trees, there will also be an elevated DJ booth. An impressive lineup of globally recognized DJs was recently announced for the opening weekend at Drai’s Beach Club. You can listen to 12th Planet on May 23, Arty on May 24, Showtek on May 25 and Quintino & Ummet Ozcan on May 26.

Don’t miss out on soaking up the sun and fun at one of Las Vegas’ pool clubs during your visit. They’re sure to add some extra sizzle to your Sin City adventure.

Renee LiButti

I’m a Las Vegas native. By profession, I write at Vegas.com. Mostly about the city’s hotels, but on other topics – gaming and transportation – too. I really love staying at hotels. And the ones here are among the biggest and best in the world. Some key things I’ve learned: Resort fees are inescapable (frustrating but true), a friendly attitude at the front desk may score you a great view and over-the-top room amenities – bath butlers, Japanese tea service, menus with “intimate” items – do exist. What else should you know about me? Well, I’m comfortable at a blackjack table. And I like eating late-night pancakes in hotel coffee shops. A lot. Follow Renee on Google+.
