Get giddy over Hello Kitty

Whether you’re 5 or 35, how could you not love Hello Kitty?

From wallets and school supplies to iPhone cases and apparel (and now Smart Cars?!), you’re never too young (or too old) to have a Hello Kitty stash. I remember getting my first Hello Kitty item as a Christmas present when I was in first grade — a colorful jewelry box with pull-out drawers. Since then, I’ve been collecting items featuring this big headed, mouthless cat for the past 20 years. I barely have room on my bed to sleep with all the Hello Kitty dolls I’ve accumulated this whole time. How can I resist?

Just one of the few Sanrio items available this weekend at Town Square

If you’re a hardcore HK fan like me (and even collect her Sanrio homies including Pochacco, Ahiru No Pekkle, Kero Kero Keroppi, Badtz Maru and Tuxedo Sam), then you’ll need to clear your schedule this weekend and head over to Town Square and visit Sanrio’s Mobile Pop-up Shop. Celebrating 50 years of Sanrio, Sanrio and Target joined forces to bring the party to Vegas.

The 8-week mobile pop-up tour kicked off in San Francisco three weeks ago and is making its way here this Saturday, Nov. 13 and Sunday, Nov. 14. While you’re there you’ll have the chance to play games, enter contests and even take pictures with your favorite characters. You’ll also get to purchase a wide variety of collectibles commemorating the event.

The kitty-riffic extravaganza starts at 10 a.m., but you might want to head over to Town Square early: the first 50 people to come through will get a goody bag. The all-day event lasts until 7 p.m. both days.

It’s one thing to shop at a Sanrio store, but this mobile tour truly brings your shopping experience to life. Start the countdown now and show some love for your favorite characters this weekend.

Most folks take their Vegas jackpot winnings back home, but my dad decided to stay here instead. That’s how I left Seattle almost 20 years ago. I moved from greenery and rainy days to hot summers, palm trees and desert. As much as I love my hometown, I decided to stick around Vegas. This city just has so much to offer. You don’t even have to be a gambler, bar hopper or an all-night partier. I love Vegas for its awesome vegan-friendly spots, concerts, swanky hotel suites and spas so big, they’re like castles. The pool scene is not too shabby either, which is why I love taking stay-cations. Besides living it up -- Vegas style -- I’m hanging out with my adorable baby girl, two cats and super-fluffy Shih-Tzu. I’m also a huge fan of '90s music, shows and movies. You can find me on Google+ and Twitter.
