Dancing pandas are coming to the Palazzo Theater in Las Vegas this December.
The latest Chinese import, “Panda!” combines high-flying acrobatics, kung fu mastery, magic, music, dance and Chinese drama to tell the story of LongLong, a panda on a quest to rescue his beloved Princess Peacock from her evil kidnapper.
The production is set in a mythical realm of Far Eastern folklore, using a massive state-of-the-art multilayered LED wall to create sensational imagery.
“We’ve taken two of China’s national treasures, pandas and kung fu, and illuminated them in a visually stunning production that tells an unforgettable and timeless story,” “Panda!” director An Zhao said. Our team couldn’t be happier to bring this experience to the international audiences Las Vegas is known to attract.”
The cast includes award winning performers from the China National Acrobatic Troupe, the Shaolin Monastery Kung Fu Monks Troupe and the China Star Dance Troupe.
The team who created “Panda!,” which opened in Beijing on Oct. 9, has also worked on such productions as the stunning opening and closing ceremonies for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
According to the China News Service, the show is scheduled to debut in Las Vegas on Dec. 14.
Once “Panda!” opens in December at the Palazzo Las Vegas, performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Tickets go on sale Nov. 1.
