Stand-up master Carlos Mencia will return to Las Vegas for a one-night-only show that promises countless laughs. His hilarious approach to political and social comedy — especially issues of race and class — promises to bring down the house at Treasure Island on May 9.

Famous for pushing the boundaries of comedic commentary on race and ethnicity issues, Mencia has found a huge fan base among people who love to laugh at themselves and among lovers of politically incorrect comedy.

He got his start at amateur nights at the L.A. Laugh Factory and shot into the spotlight when “Buscando Estrellas” (the Latin “Star Search”) named him International Comedy Grand Champion. Mencia is best known for his Comedy Central show “Mind of Mencia,” which featured guest comics including Gabriel Iglesias, Jamie Kennedy, Bobby Lee, Mario Lopez, Daniel Tosh and Gene Simmons.

He also hosted HBO’s Latino comedy showcase “Loco Slam” and Galavision’s “Funny Is Funny!” He voice acted in the Disney Channel animated series “The Proud Family” as Oscar Proud’s best friend and twin in trouble Felix Boulevardez.

Mencia worked with Freddy Soto and Pablo Francisco, “The Three Amigos,” on a stand-up tour and also performed stand-up in two half-hour HBO specials. He won the CableACE Award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Special for his work on HBO and in 2002 earned a spot on “Comedy Central Presents.”
