Giddy up – the rodeo is coming to town! The 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo rides back into Vegas Dec. 5 – 14. If you’re here for the big competition at the Thomas & Mack Center, you’ll also want to know where the hottest spots are to get revved up before each day’s action begins or to let loose after it all wraps up. We’ve compiled a list of bars and nightclubs that are offering drink specials, live country music, rodeo-themed activities and autograph signings with NFR participants. So come get your party on at one of these places because Sin City is throwing a 10-day bash you won’t believe!
Rockhouse at Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian | The Palazzo
The popular Rockhouse bar will be transformed into “Rockhouse Rodeo” from Dec. 5 – 14 for NFR. Fans can participate in charitable events and take advantage of drink specials (including $5 Coors bottles, $7 Heineken bottles, $19 Coors buckets and $22 Heineken buckets). Rockhouse Rodeo will also feature the following special events during NFR: Cowgirls and Cocktails (Dec. 9) with $1 specialty cocktails for ladies; Taco Tuesday (Dec. 10) with taco specials starting at $1.50, complemented by $5 tequila shots and $7 signature margaritas; Country Karaoke (Dec. 11) with a chance to perfect your country twang while devouring Wiener Circle Wednesday specials; and Name the Bull (Dec. 12) with an opportunity to dub the Rockhouse’s mechanical bull. Plus, at Rockhouse Rodeo there will be bull riding competitions for the chance to win $500 in cash and prizes each night. They will be hosted by celebrities like former “American Idol” contestant Morgan Leigh (Dec. 7 – 9) and NFR rodeo clown Robbie Hodges (Dec. 10 – 14), with top NFR rider L.J. Jenkins co-hosting and signing autographs on Dec. 11 – 12.
Hungry guests can chow down on a specially priced T-bone steak at Carlos’n Charlie’s for just $19.99 along with two-for-one frozen margaritas and two-for-one Coors Light and Rolling Rock beers from Dec. 5 – 14. In addition, all of the bars at the Flamingo will be serving up Jack Daniel’s or Jack Honey cocktails for $7 and 16-ounce Miller or Coors aluminum bottles for $5.
Blondies Sports Bar & Grill inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino
In honor of NFR from Dec. 5 – 14, Blondies Sports Bar & Grill will serve $5 Jack Daniel’s drinks along with buy-one-get-one-free wing orders and $15 buckets of Bud products. You can also take home a souvenir pint glass for only $9.99 and enjoy $2 refills throughout the rodeo.
Cabo Wabo Cantina at the north entrance of the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino
Mosey on over to Sammy Hagar’s rollicking Cabo Wabo Cantina on Dec. 5 – 14, when you can take advantage of some amazing drink specials including $4 shots of Crown Royal, $21 buckets of Bud Light/Budweiser and $19 buckets of Dos Equis. You can watch all of the NFR action on HD screens positioned throughout the restaurant, bar and patio, and see performances by Cash Presley, a band named for Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, on Dec. 13 – 14.
From Dec. 5 – 14, all of the bars at The Quad will serve 16-ounce Miller and Coors aluminum cans for $5, and the resort’s Catalyst Bar will offer Jack Daniel’s and Jack Honey cocktails for $7 to boot.
Masquerade Bar at Rio
Knock back Crown Royal shots in the Masquerade Bar at Rio for $7 or Crown Royal shots paired with a Coors or Coors Light for $11 from Dec. 5 – 14.
From Dec. 5 – 14, all of the casino bars in the Silverton will be playing a live feed of the day’s NFR action. Sit and watch for free or head over to the Shady Grove Lounge on Dec. 6 – 8 from 9 p.m. – midnight to hear the Lindgren & Lewis Band.
Rhumbar at The Mirage
The stylish indoor/outdoor Rhumbar lounge will offer a cocktail and cigar pairing from Dec. 5 – 14. Savor Crown Royal whiskey libations accompanied by a FreyBoy Tobacco House Selection Toro cigar for only $20.
The Lounge and Social center bar at the Palms are featuring a discount on Pendleton Whisky, the official spirit of the PRCA and NFR. It will available for $6. Those who have a more refined palate can also enjoy Pendleton 1910 for $8. After the rodeo action concludes each night, round up your friends and party late into the night with complimentary admission to the Palms’ three nightlife venues: Moon, The View and Ghostbar (note: you must present a valid NFR ticket stub to receive free entry).
Club Madrid at Sunset Station
Come watch the fun at “Nashville Unplugged” featuring Danny Myrick on Dec. 13 in Club Madrid at Sunset Station. Hosts and singer/songwriters Brian McComas and Aaron Benward will be joined by two other talented, well-known country musicians during the fun experience, akin to Nashville’s Bluebird Café.
Revolver at Santa Fe Station
Be part of the Back in the Saddle concert series in Revolver at Santa Fe Station. It showcases some of country music’s up-and-coming artists, like Krystal Keith on Dec. 12. Doors open at 8 p.m.
PBR Rock Bar at the south entrance of the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino
Serving as an official sponsor for the 2013 Wrangler NFR, expect lots of cool country-themed events at PBR Rock Bar & Grill from Dec. 5 – 14. This includes nightly mechanical bull riding competitions for $500 in cash and prizes, meet and greets with top riders and drink specials. Famed NFR rodeo clown Robbie Hodges will lasso up some fun while hosting on Dec. 5 – 9, and former “American Idol” contestant Morgan Leigh takes over emcee duties on Dec. 10 – 14. Rodeo fans will also want to stop by on Dec. 9, when Wade Sundell, a PBR and NFR bull rider, will co-host, sign autographs and judge the nightly bull riding competition. Plus, there will be a weekly beer pong tournament, “Cowgirls and Cocktails” specials (featuring $1 specialty cocktails for all the ladies) and $5 rides on Fire Bull, PBR Rock Bar’s mechanical bull. On Dec. 10, show off your singing abilities during Country Karaoke. Singers can warm up their vocal cords with a complimentary specialty shot. Top rider Chandler Bownds will drop by to co-host on Dec. 12, followed by NFR participant L.J. Jenkins on Dec. 13 – 14.
The 10th annual “Rodeo Vegas” event, the Official NFR After-Party of the PRCA, will be held in the race and sports book at The Mirage. Beginning at 10 p.m. nightly, it will feature an impressive array of country artists – and there is no cost for admission! The schedule is as follows: Dustin Lynch (Dec. 5), Josh Thompson (Dec. 6), Cassey Donahew Band (Dec. 7), Craig Morgan (Dec. 8), Brit Stokes Band (Dec. 9 – 10), Justin McBride (Dec. 11), Daryle Singletary (Dec. 12), Jerrod Niemann (Dec. 13) and Easton Corbin (Dec. 14).
Throughout NFR, Harrah’s already lively Piano Bar will be converted into the “Jack Daniel’s Saloon” with $6 Jack Daniel’s or Jack Honey cocktails, $7 Gentleman Jack cocktails and $8 Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel cocktails. For $10, guests can also delight in a beer and a Jack Daniel’s shot combination. Or head over to Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar, where pro bull rider Rocky McDonald will sign autographs on Dec. 12 – 13.
Stoney’s Rockin’ Country at Town Square Las Vegas
Have a good ol’ country time two-stepping and listening to talented musicians inside Stoney’s Rockin’ Country, a 20,000-square-foot club. Singer/songwriter Jackson Michelson, whose “Got It Goin’ On” video is all the rage right now, will appear on Dec. 6 – 7. The Brodie Stewart Band, known for their Southern-style rock, will play on Dec. 13 – 14.
Tacos & Tequila at Luxor
The rock ’n’ roll-styled Tacos & Tequila (aka T&T) combines traditional and modern elements of Mexican cuisine. On Dec. 5 – 14 from 2 – 6 p.m. , T&T’s bar will be offering $5 happy hour drink specials that include Crown Royal cocktails, Dos Equis lager, Jose Cuervo shots, red and white house wines, well drinks and sangria. Buckets of Coors Banquet beer will also be available for $25. Among the half-priced happy hour appetizers are guacamole, habañero chicken wings, beef flautas, fiesta nachos and quesadillas.
Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Q at Treasure Island
Live music acts, line-dancing lessons and other entertainment are regularly featured at Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Q. During NFR, its stage will be graced by the Southern country rock band Austin Law on Dec. 5 – 7 and 12 – 14 and singer/guitarist Chancey Williams on Dec. 9 – 11. You’ll also find live autograph signings from NFR bull riders on Dec. 10 at noon. And from Dec. 5 – 15 from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., imbibe with rodeo drink specials that include two-for-one Crown Royal cocktails as well as $20 buckets or $4 draughts of Coors Banquet and Coors Light.
Among all the entertainment offered for NFR at MGM Grand, don’t miss out on the Crown Royal Gold Buckle Zone, located near KÀ Theatre. The 8,000-square-foot space will be home to a free nightly party. In addition to appearances by the Gold Buckle Zone Cowboys, live feeds of the rodeo, dancing and giveaways, there will be live music provided by country duo LoCash Cowboys on Dec. 5 – 14. Academy of Country Music Award winner Neal McCoy will join them on Dec. 9 – 13.
House of Blues at Mandalay Bay
On Dec. 9, Grammy-nominated recording artist Chris Young, who has five No. 1 singles to his name, will take to the club’s main stage. The House of Blues will also host additional entertainment throughout the 10 days the NFR is in Vegas.
Ricky and the Redstreaks, one of the most beloved bands on the professional rodeo circuit, will be performing free concerts in The Playroom at the Wicked Vicky Tavern in the Riviera from Dec. 5 – 14. While there, partake of $2 Jack Daniels drink specials – otherwise grab a bottle of Fosters or Miller Lite for only $2 at any of the casino bars.
Not only is the Monte Carlo home to this year’s WNFR Bareback Riding contestants, but The Pub will also have a special rodeo-themed area, dubbed the “Rodeo Corral at The Pub,” during the 2013 Wrangler NFR. To kick off the fun, there will be a pre-rodeo party here on Dec. 4, with all the Team Monte Carlo riders available for autographs, photos and meet and greets. Guests can delight in line dancing, karaoke and giveaways as well. All 10 rodeo performances will be broadcast live nightly at The Pub as well as inside the Monte Carlo’s sports book. The Rodeo Corral at The Pub will host live entertainment afterward too – including line dancing (Dec. 5 – 14), karoake with DJ Kirk along with Team Monte Carlo rider meet and greets (Dec. 5 and 8 – 12) and performances from the country music group Gold Country (Dec. 6 – 7 and 13 – 14).
