DJ AM was loved by other DJs. He was loved by his fans. Heck, he was loved by Iron Man.
Unfortunately, for his friends, family and fans he’s no longer here to see that love. DJ AM died of a drug overdose Aug. 28, 2009 at his New York City apartment.
His memory, though, lives on through the DJ AM Turntable Tribute that will be held Friday from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at Vanity Nightclub inside Hard Rock Hotel as a part of a four-city remembrance to support the “DJ AM Memorial Fund.”
Events will also be held in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles.
DJ AM served as an inspiration and friend to many DJs who hold residencies in Las Vegas, such as, Samantha Ronson (Chateau) who did an album with DJ AM, close friend and mentor DJ Jazzy Jeff (clubs at the Palms), Steve Aoki (Surrender) and even “Jersey Shore” star DJ Pauly D (clubs at the Palms).
DJ AM’s turntables and mixer will be permanently installed at Vanity during the event while guests dine on small bites and drinks at the hosted bar. All proceeds from the event go toward the DJ AM Memorial Fund. For more information regarding the memorial fund visit djam.com.
ScreenWerks, a collective of video DJs, put together a tribute video for DJ AM. Go here to check it out.
