In May, the Cosmopolitan took the groundbreaking initiative to marry same sex couples in symbolic ceremonies at The Pop-Up Wedding Chapel. Now the hip Las Vegas hotel presents another effort on behalf of the LGBTQ community — an avant-garde LGBTQ nightlife experience at Bond ultra-lounge.

The weekly event, called Confidential, started last night and takes place every Wednesday at 9 p.m. It is hosted by influential Las Vegas personalities and features beats by resident DJ Nick Ayler as well as handcrafted cocktails.

“Since opening, the Cosmopolitan has valued and celebrated individuality and diversity of thought,” said Daniel Espino, the Cosmopolitan’s vice president of people. “Our rich, vibrant and diverse culture is a source of our strength and what drives our support to the LGBTQ community.”

Yes, I’m from Las Vegas. But I’d like to clarify a few things: I don’t live in a hotel and I’m not a showgirl. I put my pasties on one nipple at a time, just like everyone else. I’m a regular girl who plunges off the side of ridiculously tall Las Vegas landmarks and writes about it for a living. I also ride roller coasters, hang at the spa, shoot holes in zombies and take art lessons from bottlenose dolphins. You know, normal stuff. My career as a journalist and copywriter has led me out of Vegas and around the world, but the 24/7 normality of Las Vegas sucks me back in every time. Am I oblivious to the plethora of slot machines everywhere I go? Sure. But that’s because I’m distracted by all the pretty lights. Follow me on Google+ and Twitter.
