Cabo Wabo's signature Waborita

Who loves margaritas?

Trick question, everyone does.

Feb. 22 is National Margarita Day, which means a lineup of Vegas bars and restaurants are putting on some great specials for this classic cocktail.

Cabo Wabo Cantina in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood celebrates National Margarita Day and National Chip Day (on Friday, Feb. 24) with a three-day long special. Guests get $10 off a Build-You-Own-Margarita in a 45-ounce glass and they’ll be serving $10 Cadillac Nachos. They may be two separate holidays, but both specials last Wednesday through Friday.

Calling all Parrotheads: Margaritaville at the Flamingo will be celebrating National Margarita Day. How could they not? Assorted food and margarita specials, along with anyone with a Feb. 22 birthday receiving a $22.20 gift certificate. Better yet, anyone born on Feb. 22, 1922 gets free food and beverages all day. They’ll also be giving away a Frozen Concoction Maker to a lucky winner.

Pucker up for Pink Kisses!

Pink Taco at the Hard Rock Hotel is offering a new signature drink for the occasion, the Pink Kisses margarita. Named for its bright pink color and a “tartness that make guests’ lips pucker,” this drink combines Grand Marnier, Monin Pomegranate, grapefruit juice, lemon juice and grapefruit-infused salt. The drink runs $12.

PBR Rock Bar and Grill at the Miracle Mile Shops is offering two different versions of the margarita at a 2-for-1 price.

Tacos & Tequila at the Luxor is giving patrons an all-day happy hour with 2-for-1 house margaritas  from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., served on the rocks with a salted rim.

Out of town this week or just prefer to make your own? Put away the overly-sugary margarita mix and give this a shot. The following is the recipe for a standard margarita, but feel free to add your own flourishes, such as different varieties of limes or lemons or a different orange liqueur.

  • 35 ml (seven parts) tequila
  • 20 ml (four parts) Cointreau or triple sec
  • 15 ml (three parts) lemon or lime juice

Be sure to rub the rim of the glass with the lime slice to make the salt stick. Shake the other ingredients with ice, then pour into the glass. Garnish, serve over ice and enjoy National Margarita Day!
