Golden Gate offers 50-cent shrimp cocktails in honor of National Shrimp Day

Shrimp Cocktail at Du-par's Restaurant in the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino

“Anyway, like I was sayin’, shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich …”

And now Bubba, there is 50-cent shrimp cocktail.

In honor of National Shrimp Day – May 10 – the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is rolling back the price of its shrimp cocktail to just 50 cents. That’s the price the hotel first charged when it introduced the “Original Shrimp Cocktail” in 1959.

The shrimp cocktail is served in a classic tulip sundae glass with spicy cocktail sauce and fresh lemon wedges.  It will be served from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Du-par’s Restaurant in the hotel. Limit one per person while supplies last.
