Zip it on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas

Those who want to zip down the Fremont Street Experience on Flightlinez zip line should zip on down to the Fremont Street Experience before it’s gone. The current zip line will soon be no more.

But don’t distress my thrill-seeking friends. A  new two-level “zoom” line called SlotZilla will soon be taking its place, just east of 4th and Fremont streets.

The 128-foot steel skeleton of SlotZilla (pictured right) is now complete and the $11.5 million ride is set to open in the summer of 2013. The attraction will include a 12-story slot machine-themed takeoff platform located near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street.

Riders on the upper level will take off 110 feet above ground while lying flat. Riders on the lower zip line take off about 70 feet above ground.

If you’ve never zipped at harrowing speeds below the colorful, psychedelic Viva Vision canopy, while air-fiving the crowd below, you should really give it a try. Your perspective will never be the same!

Zipping not your thing? Check out these other fantastic Vegas thrill rides.

Yes, I’m from Las Vegas. But I’d like to clarify a few things: I don’t live in a hotel and I’m not a showgirl. I put my pasties on one nipple at a time, just like everyone else. I’m a regular girl who plunges off the side of ridiculously tall Las Vegas landmarks and writes about it for a living. I also ride roller coasters, hang at the spa, shoot holes in zombies and take art lessons from bottlenose dolphins. You know, normal stuff. My career as a journalist and copywriter has led me out of Vegas and around the world, but the 24/7 normality of Las Vegas sucks me back in every time. Am I oblivious to the plethora of slot machines everywhere I go? Sure. But that’s because I’m distracted by all the pretty lights. Follow me on Google+ and Twitter.
