UPDATE — 3:25 p.m.: Safety testing has officially begun on El Loco’s cars, a major milestone in the coaster construction process:
It’s almost time to go crazy on the Las Vegas Strip! The El Loco roller coaster is slated to open at the Adventuredome at Circus Circus in late January or early February — and I’m pretty much giddy with excitement.
As of this morning the 1,300-foot track appears to be complete and workers are now installing the open-carriage cars, which are not running yet.
In the meantime, roller coaster enthusiasts can enter the Adventuredome’s contest to be among the first to ride the crazy coaster. Plus, Las Vegas is home to an array of other super cool thrills, including roller coasters, a controlled free fall, indoor skydiving and race cars.
