Swim with sharks along with other exotic fish at the Shark Reef.

If you’re truly convinced you were a fish in another life or if you didn’t find the movie “Jaws” the least bit terrifying, now’s your chance to dive with sharks at Mandalay Bay.

At the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef aquarium, hotel guests at Mandalay Bay and THEhotel can experince the Dive with Sharks program. If you have your diving license, love underwater exploration and coming face-to-face with these fascinating creatures, then Dive with Sharks is for you.

Feel the adrenaline rush while diving alongside more than 30 sharks including sandtiger, white tip and sandbar sharks in the 1.3 million gallon exhibit. You’ll also get to swim by schools of fish, sawfish and green sea turtles, to  name a few.

Dive with Sharks provides divers 18 years and older a unique opportunity to connect with these powerful creatures while offering a deeper understanding of marine life. The four-hour experience includes enrichment about shark health and behavior as well as Shark Reef Aquarium research projects that help preserve these endangered species.

The adventure starts at 3 p.m. The program provides all of the diving equipment including a wetsuit, protective stainless steel chain maille as well as a mask, fins, tank, buoyancy-control device, regulator, weights and booties. Guests will also receive a Dive With Sharks Certificate of Completion and a video of their dive. You’ll also get to bring four of your friends  (or family members) to view your dive from outside the exhibit. Your friends or family can also enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the aquarium.

Hotel guests at Mandalay Bay or THEhotel can book this tour for $650 or $1000 for two booked together. The Dive with Sharks program includes a guided tour of the aquarium, a supervised, 45-minute dive and a post-dive snack – perhaps Pepperidge Farm’s Goldfish crackers?
