Marvel Comics fans (which, of course, includes a guy dressed like Spider-Man) crowded behind the velvet rope today to see the legendary Stan Lee help unveil the new multimillion-dollar renovations at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas.

Stan Lee helps cut the rope.

The grand reopening, as Madame Tussauds is calling it, includes new rooms, brand new wax figures and all sorts of fun interactive features. Everything in the museum has either been expanded, renovated or is completely brand new. The renovations took about two years to complete.

New additions include the suite from the original “Hangover” movie and a Marvel Comics exhibit featuring several Marvel superheroes together in one room for the first time. Have your photo taken with Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Thor (swoon) and more.

“These figures are more realistic than I am!” said Lee. “I walked up to Robert Downey Jr. (as Tony Stark) and expected him to talk to me. What a thrill!” To see photos of Lee with all the new wax figures, click here

Patrons will also enjoy watching a short film in the brand new multisensory Marvel 4-D Theater. Viewers of the film are poked, shaken and splashed with water along with “The Avengers,” who heroically save Las Vegas from absolute destruction.

Yes, I’m from Las Vegas. But I’d like to clarify a few things: I don’t live in a hotel and I’m not a showgirl. I put my pasties on one nipple at a time, just like everyone else. I’m a regular girl who plunges off the side of ridiculously tall Las Vegas landmarks and writes about it for a living. I also ride roller coasters, hang at the spa, shoot holes in zombies and take art lessons from bottlenose dolphins. You know, normal stuff. My career as a journalist and copywriter has led me out of Vegas and around the world, but the 24/7 normality of Las Vegas sucks me back in every time. Am I oblivious to the plethora of slot machines everywhere I go? Sure. But that’s because I’m distracted by all the pretty lights. Follow me on Google+ and Twitter.
