Wynn Las Vegas has handcrafted a festive atmosphere this holiday season with impressive floral and gingerbread displays created by talented artisans. The luxury resort recently unveiled two large-scale floral installations in the atrium as well as a 3-foot gingerbread replica of the signature bronze hotel in the Wynn Buffet.
Flower power (more than 160,000 flowers)
As a nod to public art, a colorful, life-sized hot air balloon and a charming carousel with white horses join the Wynn atrium’s 50-year-old Ficus trees and 10 different species of plants.
Conceptualized by designer Preston Bailey, the hot air balloon stands 20 feet tall and weighs 4,000 pounds while the carousel is 13 feet tall, 16 feet wide and weighs 6,000 pounds.
“With this installation, I’m excited to expose my work to a much wider public audience for all to enjoy and to find their own inspiration in,” said Bailey in a press release. “After being approached by Mr. Wynn to design these sculptures, I thought it would be ideal to create something dramatic out of flowers. I use them as my clay, molding them into something distinctive and awe-inspiring.”
The whimsical floral installations will remain on display indefinitely.
A Wynn winter wonderland
Several Wynn shops — including Brioni, Cartier, Chanel, Chloé, Chopard, Dior, Hermés, Loro Piana, Louis Vuitton, Nicholas Kirkwood, Oscar de la Renta, Swim, and Wynn and Company Watches — are represented by structures surrounding the gingerbread hotel.
Aghababyan’s pastries have been showcased on television and in print, and she was nominated as one of the Top 10 Cake Artists in North America by “Pastry Professional Magazine” in 2012.
Weighing in at a whopping 295 pounds, the sweet Wynn replica is on display throughout the holiday season.
